I went to see Watchmen on monday! And then failed to blog about it, lol. But! It is AWESOME. EEEEH. I really really loved it, it was quite thrilling to see how it translated to the screen. Is it without faults? Of course not, but you can't really expect perfection from this movie. In all, it was really well done, it looked fantastic and the changes made overall sense. The opening credits were just gorgeous and a little piece of art on their own, the music and score were really atmospheric and oh, the photography, it was as detailed as the comic, which is definitely a good thing. aaaand now you can get double the spoilers for half the prize! )

I've been listening a lot to the Yeah Yeah Yeah's new album, It's Blitz! and I absolutely love it ♥. It is a bit weird how much this band has changed over the years, though - IsIs was really loud, much more like Fever to Tell, and yet this one feels more alike to Show Your Bones, in that it's more melodic and soft, but much more upbeat and Dance-ish, if that makes any sense, lol. (SYB for me will always be Southern lullabies, for some reason. This one has a hint of lullabies as well, but happier lullabies) In any case, I've been listening over and over for the past two days.

With every new footage I see of Watchmen, the feeling that it will be so. fucking. awesome only grows. asldkjf I so can't wait for it. :333

[livejournal.com profile] chrryblssmninja linked at how the live-action Cowboy Bebop film is still going. With Keanu Reeves starring as Spike.

Excuse me while I throw up a little in my mouth.

No, seriously. I usually don't mind Keanu Reeves, but this is Cowboy Bebop we're talking about, easily the best anime series ever done, and to have it TARNISHED like this - well, it's just wrong. Wrong wrong wrong. ;_____; If you haven't seen it yet - let me tell you, you're seriously missing out. This is jazz in space, this is noir sci-fi, this is an ex-criminal, an ex-cop, an ex-gambler, an ex-hacker and a genious dog becoming bounty-hunters, and dealing with ghosts of their past. This series is just perfect. ♥ The series credits, actually, will tell you all about how awesome it is. YES.

And now I feel like doing a massive re-watch. SIGH. Of CB and Samurai Champloo, which is just as awesome, and by the same people, but only less serious and more fun. Just like CB is jazz in space, this is hip-hop in Samurai-ruled Tokugawa Era Japan. ANACHRONISMS AHOY, YAY. :DD

I'm re-reading Watchmen (now in pretty trade paperback, oh, it's gorgeous), paying extra attention to the details int he background and the fantastic grid layouts (you tend to not notice the first day around, but Dave Gibbons is a genious in regards to layouts), and lo, much amusement was had!

Turns out, the Comedian's middle name is MORGAN, ahaha. I guess it was just fated. XD

Small commentary on the three last books I've read: The Tales of Beedle the Bard, Arráncame la Vida and Phyllida and the Brotherhood of Philander (lol, a bisexual regency romance) )

OKAY, THIS IS THE FANDOM MASH UP OF MY DREAMS. ZOMG. ;LSDKJF.

James Jean, my all time favorite illustrator, did a pin-up style portrait of Sally Jupiter for the Watchmen movie. SO AWESOME. SO HOT. I usually like James Jean's fantastic style better, but I can so make an exception for this one. Because official or not, DUDE! JAMES JEAN DREW FANART FOR WATCHMEN!!

I IS DEAD. OF JOY.

Saturday was really awful. As in, really, really awful, cry-my-eyes-out awful. It's all my parent's fault, with a touch of me being about 12 rather than 20 years old and watching my brother look so young. God. Don't really want to talk about it, I'm just glad it's over.

That same day I went to see Paranoid Park. It's really good, but somewhat slow, like all of Gus Van Sant's movies, and really, it's a tad overrated. Still, it has lovely music, and, more than anything, it's a portrait of teenage apathy. So, good movie, spectacularly bad time to see it. Bah.

Anyway, in a happier note, The Ultimates 2 blew my mind. MAN. It's even better than the first arc, mostly because it took things so far, and I loved every minute of it. Reaaaad it, I promise you won't regret it - this is all that Civil War intended to be (meaning: mature, morally-grey, and painfully realistic), without all of the icky stupidity and Awful!Bithtastic!Entitled!Tony Stark. (I hated the Cap first. Civil War made me get attached to him, strangely enough. Civil War also made me hate Tony with a deep passion. Thank God for the movie, or I wouldn't have found out about how awesome he usually is in the comics.)

I also watched Eureka's first season, and liked it loads, even if it's not the greatest thing ever. That thing about Stark Industries, especially, made me giggle a lot, haha. :D

Zomg, it's Harry's birthday today! HAPPY 28TH BIRTHDAY, YOU CRAZY POTTER KID! :D :D :D And Happy Birthday, JKR, and thanks for sharing your wacky mind with us even wackier people. :3

I baked whole wheat apple and brown sugar muffins yesterday. They're already all gone, which means that they were AWESOME. :DDD It was a blast, I missed baking so freaking much. :3

I dreamt with the Joker last night. He was terrorizing my city's downtown, using a kid (and a giant ball shaped like a pumpking. Don't ask.) as a shield. There was some kind of fair going on, and it was crowded and suddenly there was fire everywhere and men with guns and I couldn't find my family and when I did we just kept running running running and hiding and it was so completely HORRIFYING. And I thought I was one of the lucky ones that hadn't gotten nightmares after watching the Dark Knight. WELL NOT ANYMORE. o_O

I’ve become sort of obsessed with the Watchmen trailer. And with it, the song. I know it was actually made for Batman (and the original song is quite more Batman-y, if such a thing exists, lol), but the song will forever be the essential Watchmen song for me – and indeed, part of the trailer’s awesomeness is due to how well edited it is to fit the song completely. SEE? OBSESSED. I guess it is a bit late for regretting not going to that Smashing Pumpkins concert, huh? XD

But really, I’m just too hyped up about the movie. PLEASE BE AWESOME, MOVIE. PLEASE PLEASE. Apparently the whole comic-within-a-comic will be available in the dvd, which; YAY. It’s sad that it can’t fit into the actual movie, but being practical there wasn’t enough time. AND it’ll be narrated by Gerard Butler, so win all around. :D
