Look, I don't mind the Arthur/Eames fic that's composing half of the Inception fandom at the minute, it's hot and stuff (even though there wasn't that much interaction there in the movie, but you know, artistic license and whatnot, again, it's hot), but what I REALLY want is long plotty fic about dreams and reality and what happens after the ending of the movie and twists and such. Anyone's seen something like it? If so, please link me to it? Pretty please.

Found this recipe for SUPPOSEDLY huevos rancheros, and wow, seldom before have I seen something that looks so little like huevos rancheros. I mean, how do you mess up such a simple recipe? By starters: DUDE, flour tortillas in that is a big no-no. In fact, it annoys me how people consider that flour tortillas are THE tortillas, as it happens in England, for example, because they're a variation of the proper corn ones, and used much less. Bah. If you get served enchiladas made with flour tortillas? That shit is wrong, yo.

In other cooking news today I made Shepherd's Pie (or rather, Cottage Pie) and Mountain Pie with strawberries. Yum. :D

Cooking for myself for the past few weeks has been, well, challenging, to say the least. I can bake all right, but cooking? That I'd never done before. But I'm doing mostly fine, starting from microwave dinners the first week to something resembling my mom's cooking this one. IE: Today I tried doing sopa de pasta and it was goooooood. YESSSS. (I tried to last week and it was a disaster. So it's DOUBLY exciting, lol)

In any case, there's a certain sense of accomplishment, of vague pride, in being able to feed yourself. I like that. And I'm discovering that I do, in fact, seem to like cooking quite a bit. Who knows, maybe by the time the semester comes to and end I'll be able to whip out of a seven course meal like a pro :3

(I sort of miss baking, but I'm too cheap and lazy to buy muffin pans and whiskers and mixers and the like, lol.)

So, if you have simle recipes to share, please do so!

Zomg, it's Harry's birthday today! HAPPY 28TH BIRTHDAY, YOU CRAZY POTTER KID! :D :D :D And Happy Birthday, JKR, and thanks for sharing your wacky mind with us even wackier people. :3

I baked whole wheat apple and brown sugar muffins yesterday. They're already all gone, which means that they were AWESOME. :DDD It was a blast, I missed baking so freaking much. :3

I dreamt with the Joker last night. He was terrorizing my city's downtown, using a kid (and a giant ball shaped like a pumpking. Don't ask.) as a shield. There was some kind of fair going on, and it was crowded and suddenly there was fire everywhere and men with guns and I couldn't find my family and when I did we just kept running running running and hiding and it was so completely HORRIFYING. And I thought I was one of the lucky ones that hadn't gotten nightmares after watching the Dark Knight. WELL NOT ANYMORE. o_O

I’ve become sort of obsessed with the Watchmen trailer. And with it, the song. I know it was actually made for Batman (and the original song is quite more Batman-y, if such a thing exists, lol), but the song will forever be the essential Watchmen song for me – and indeed, part of the trailer’s awesomeness is due to how well edited it is to fit the song completely. SEE? OBSESSED. I guess it is a bit late for regretting not going to that Smashing Pumpkins concert, huh? XD

But really, I’m just too hyped up about the movie. PLEASE BE AWESOME, MOVIE. PLEASE PLEASE. Apparently the whole comic-within-a-comic will be available in the dvd, which; YAY. It’s sad that it can’t fit into the actual movie, but being practical there wasn’t enough time. AND it’ll be narrated by Gerard Butler, so win all around. :D

I bought my very first cookbook yesterday! Before y'all start going 'Awww, poor child, she never had a cookbook before', let's clarify that there's actually a lot of cookbooks in my house, my dad being the little cooking enthusiast that he is, only I'd never bought on for myself, because I'd always thought that going to a book store and coming out with something non-fiction was a horrible crime. LOL. I was also THIS close to getting this amazing chocolate recipes book (aaah, I forgot the author's name! Damn), but it was way too expensive, no matter how awesome and what a lovely design it had. Boo.

The thing is, I am desperate to get baking again, especially no that I don't have internet at home. BUT, life is unfair and a technician has to go and dunno, do SOMETHING to it so it'll finally get working. It suuuucks so much. I just want to make those wheat apple muffins with brown sugar on top, damnit. ;____; (And chocolate lava cakes. And ice cream. And, dunno, ANYTHING SWEET.)

I'll also be sewing some cushions for myself. Or attempting to, because I'm pants at sewing. I sometimes wish I could like heavy machinery and mechanics to defy gender stereotypes, but no such luck. OH, SELF, WHY MUST YOU BE SO GIRLY.

I dressed up okay today so my cousins would finally realize I don't look like a bum everyday (only on sundays and holidays, thank you very much), and ended up not going, haha.

You know that e-mail chain that has been all over about some dude posting the Neuman Marcus chocolate chip oatmeal cookie recipe on line to get back at them for ripping him off? Yeah, no idea if the story's legit (knowing how the interwebz work, I honestly doubt it), but I baked them with my dad this morning, and THEY'RE SO SO GOOD.

They're a bit too oatmeal-y for my taste but just on the right side of it, and they've hardened a bit by now (someday, SOMEDAY I will learn that cookies continue cooking when you've gotten them out of the oven, I promise), but when I tried one right out of the oven it was like. CHOCOLATE ORGASM, I swear, all chewy and the chocolate was melting and MMMMM. DELICIOUS.

Oh man. I'd missed baking SO MUCH. I hadn't baked anything since winter holidays, woe. ;____; It was weird baking with my dad, though, it hadn't been only him and me (he baked a bazillion cookies for Christmas, all of them amazing, but my brother and mom helped and I mostly lazed around, haha) in a couple of years, and by now I have A System and he's one of those YAY LET'S MAKE MESS bakers, haha, so our styles don't match up anymore XD It was too quiet, too - I've gotten too used to listening to loud music and dancing while I stir, haha.

I remember when I was in primary school how people were weirded out when I told them that no, it was my daddy and not my mommy the one that loved to cook XD

This baking thing is frustating me as of lately instead of being a stress reliever. All of the stuff I've baked this holidays, there's been, uh, ONE single decent thing to come out of it, the banana and pecan cupcakes. The chocolate cupcakes with chocolate and peach ganache were delicious, but they looked horrible. The cheesecake was lacking in the cheese department. I made sugar cookies today, and they got a bit burnt and they sort of stuck together to form a cookie the size of the pan and they're a bit too sweet. ARGH.

So, re: schedule of hell.

Things considering, it went well enough. It's so frustrating, though - I actually had to go to uni to ask for a spot in two of the classes I'm supposed to take (it's a 45 minute drive to my school. Needless to say, I wasn't happy) - I HATE how the school never opens enough places for, oh you know, all of the students that need to take it? I'm on a waiting list for Informatics II (aka Photoshop class) so maaaaaybe I'll get a place but there's not chance anymore for Multimedia. Damnit.

I still have a 12 hour long day. ARGH. I don't have to show up at school on Tuesdays and Thursdays, though, I only have Watercolor and Drawing I in the art school downtown (optional classes), so. Dunno. We'll see how it goes.

I've no idea what the hell I did while asleep, but I've had a backache all day long. I didn't realize it was that bad until I had to go and drive and found out that changing gears was painful. Oh well.

I baked cheesecake today! It tastes okay but not ~omg delicious~ because I had to cut back a bit on the cream cheese - that shit's expensive, yo. It's still okay, though, and hopefully there'll still be enough for when my dad comes home. He's in Colombia in business right now, and my main thought about it is that WHYYYYYYY couldn't it have been Argentina or maybe even Chile. He always brings back alfajores when he goes there. Mmm, alfajores. I fucking love alfajores. If only they weren't so hard to get in here. ;_____;

I bonded with my brother over Guitar Hero today, lol. I got a lot of playing in the morning while he was in school, but we played together for a while in the evening and he mocked me for being shit at playing Muse's Knights of Cydonia, but he got his ass served when he failed completely at it as well, haha. Speaking of whick, does anyone else gets, uh, this is going to sound completely cracked up but, soooort of dizzy right after playing? Not in feeling dizzy, just as in sort of seeing everything move eerily around? Like, when asphalt gets heated and goes all watery-like? Um. IDK. Maybe I need glasses? I tried with my mom's but they make me see fuzzy. Huh.

Well, the madeleines were somewhat of a disaster. I mean - they taste fine, they're actually pretty tasty, but the little motherfuckers got stuck to the pan and pretty much crumbled to pieces, ARGH. There's only one left, but when they were just out of the oven? It looked like a fucking madeleine cemetery right there. ;_______; BUT. I already have the damned pan, so BY GOD BUT I'LL GET THEM RIGHT. Eventually.

In other, unrelated news, there's this lame poll online in which people get to decide the 'greatest rock band of all times'. It's kinda lame and the website is eye-scorchingly godawful, BUT. YOU GOTTA VOTE, FOLKS. Why? Because they're down to the last four and the finals are The Beatles, Queen, Led Zeppelin, and BON JOVI. WHAT THE FUCK MAN. HOW IN THE SEVEN HELLS DID BON JOVI GET TO THE TOP FOUR. I usually wouldn't have voted, but this is honor, man. THE BEATLES CAN'T LOSE TO BON FUCKING JOVI, YO.

And now I gotta go off to go on writing fic for a book no one has heard of and to download TORCHWOOD YAYZ.

In which I talk about Journeyman and its shiny. ) Why, yes, I'm still bitter about it being cancelled. *seethes*

I went shopping today! While I'm all for pretty clothes, today's shopping spree was quite different, lol. First I went book store hopping and I bought Alice in Wonderland because I've always wanted to read it and it was there, all pretty, an in English! I also bought volumes 2,3, and 4 of Ex Machina HELLS YEAH. It's lovely to have it in physical format, even if I already have all of the issues out in digital format. SO MUCH LOVE FOR THIS COMIC. ♥

I also got myself a madeleine pan and three little tartlet molds and ZOMG I'm se excited to try them out! The madeleines look incredibly easy to do, too.

I baked cupcakes today! Banana cupcakes with pecans and cinnamon and cream cheese frosting, actually. They're really really yummy and, FINALLY, kinda cute! I went a bit overboard with the food coloring, so the frosting is a bit ZOMG YELLOW, but they're still nice. :) YAYZ, especially after last week's fiasco, lol.

I also wrote a bit. Not exactly sure what it is, but I kinda like it. And I'd thought I'd evaded wing-fic. Hee.

Title: SOHW
Word Count: 725
Author Notes: [livejournal.com profile] zurizip gave me as prompt the title of a story she'd written, 'The Softness of his Wings', but I felt weird about using someone else's title, so. Acronym it is. Also written with [livejournal.com profile] lilian_cho's prompt: Delusional.

Sus alas se vuelven incómodas al tercer día.  )

And in English.
