I dressed up okay today so my cousins would finally realize I don't look like a bum everyday (only on sundays and holidays, thank you very much), and ended up not going, haha.
You know that e-mail chain that has been all over about some dude posting the Neuman Marcus chocolate chip oatmeal cookie recipe on line to get back at them for ripping him off? Yeah, no idea if the story's legit (knowing how the interwebz work, I honestly doubt it), but I baked them with my dad this morning, and THEY'RE SO SO GOOD.
They're a bit too oatmeal-y for my taste but just on the right side of it, and they've hardened a bit by now (someday, SOMEDAY I will learn that cookies continue cooking when you've gotten them out of the oven, I promise), but when I tried one right out of the oven it was like. CHOCOLATE ORGASM, I swear, all chewy and the chocolate was melting and MMMMM. DELICIOUS.
Oh man. I'd missed baking SO MUCH. I hadn't baked anything since winter holidays, woe. ;____; It was weird baking with my dad, though, it hadn't been only him and me (he baked a bazillion cookies for Christmas, all of them amazing, but my brother and mom helped and I mostly lazed around, haha) in a couple of years, and by now I have A System and he's one of those YAY LET'S MAKE MESS bakers, haha, so our styles don't match up anymore XD It was too quiet, too - I've gotten too used to listening to loud music and dancing while I stir, haha.
I remember when I was in primary school how people were weirded out when I told them that no, it was my daddy and not my mommy the one that loved to cook XD

And it's hard to judge how much something is going to keep baking once it's out of the oven too. You have to factor in size/thickness of the thing, surface area touching the hot pan, etc. It sucks.
I love when you bake!!
