Mmm, [livejournal.com profile] lafemmedarla is hosting a mini Nine Ficathon, and I don't know whether I should join. I so so want too, but I've only ever written him once (and that was a secondary character to Ten), and in all honesty, I find him to be a bit daunting. Ten I get, as needy and messed up and perpetually effervescent, but Nine? Nine is somewhat more complex, wrapped up in a simpler wrapping, if that makes any sense. Oh well. I'll probably cave and do it, hehe.

Anyway, I worked for hours on my Design Assignment of Doom today and yet I'm barely starting. Ugh. Also, I have 'give a class' on Manipulation of Acquisitive Conduct for my Theory of Communication class next week, and my teammates and I are planning on showing lots of tv ads that sell an ideal of living rather than the actual product, you know, like the Axe adverts and stuff? Yeah. So, anyone know any cool, funny ones? (Or unfunny ones too, as long as they show the manipulation the publicists and designers exert.)

It always annoys having to look up stuff in the dictionary because as much as I try, I don't know as many long words in English as I do in Spanish. *sigh* The bad part of learning a foreign language is that you never sound as smart as in your own tongue.

I'm being a good girl and not clicking on any of the spoilery links over at [livejournal.com profile] who_daily, although I really really want to. *bites nails*

I've started re-reading A Hundred Years of Solitude and well, it seems like I became used to the soft yet real atmosphere of Love in the times of cholera and it's lovable yet well-constructed characters, because for the life of me I didn't remember how fucked up and disturbing every single character is in this one. Huh. It's still one of my favorite novels ever, though. ♥

The other day, one of my flamenco classmates told me Quino was dead. I immediatly went 'OMG WHAT???' because I really thought I'd, you know, hear about it (what with the man being a demi-god in the comic strip business in Latin America and Europe), and I'm ashamed to say I had to look it up even though I never really believed it. STILL. It was such a fright. o_O QUINO, DON'T YOU DARE EVER LEAVE US WITHOUT YOUR GENIOUS.

Oh, yeah, I've also been dreaming about Doctor Who for the last four days in a row. Um. Sometimes I'm the Doctor (both Ten and Seven) and sometimes I'm just a regular gal (with a family of my own, how incredibly scary!) in the Who universe (i.e. lots of time traveling and alternate realities) and Martha and Rose have both featured and it's somewhat cool because dreamscapes are just such a good background for Who, it just mixes rather well. Er. This might be my unconscious' way of saying I should lay off the crack Who? Um.
