Whip It turned out to be an adorable indie flick. Predictable, yes, but lovely and cool and funny. Don't know why it didn't get more attention when it came out in cinemas! Ah well. It's got good music, too.

I might have to hand in my thesis next thursday. Nooooooo. I feel too young to be a uni graduate. ;_____;

(señorita licenciada is how I'll introduce myself come july. Hold me.)

Nghhh, Fringe is getting SO GOOD. I wish more people were fannish about it here. Apparently some uni friends wanted to watch it so I was babbling about it (like: OMG SO GOOD, WATCH IT GUYS, I'M LONELYYYY IN MY LOVE) a while ago and my thesis teacher suddenly jumped into the conversation, completely ignoring the guy he was supposed to be mentoring at the minute and went I HAVE THE FIRST SEASON WHO WANTS TO BORROW IT, WATCH ITTTT.

That was odd.

But cool? And now he has a Fringe wallpaper in his laptop. Still, odd man.

The boy made fun of me of my geekiness over my Doctor Who fanart the other day. HA. At least I don't geek out on concrete, thank you very much.

*that was one of his points of interest in the Teotihuacan pyramids. For realz. I know his PhD is somewhat related, but jeez.

I STILL HAVEN'T SEEN WATCHMEN. BECAUSE I SUCK.

Well, no. Mostly I just procrastinated on my homework all day long and then I really had to do it and couldn't go to the cinema anymore. D'aww. I think I'll go tomorrow after class, though. And here is said homework, by the way XD I was supposed to either draw my window or do a picture collage-like thing.

Cambridge yesterday was so PRETTY. :) I can't imagine actually going to school there, though, it looks like something out of a period movie, not a university, lol. King's College was rather breathtaking, and the city is really small, but quite charming, as is all the people in bikes and the pretty boys in short rugby shorts. :3 I also had a Cornwall pasty and fudge for the first time, which was sort of amazing. BUT! Because life is like that, our coach broke down (whyyyyy does it always happen to me, wtf) and we had to wait around for an extra two hours, by which time we were exhausted and had seen every single street in the city, lol. You can so tell only really nerdy people study there - by 6pm all the stores close and everything goes quiet and there's no one on the streets. o_O quite a far cry from Leeds, where the freshmen go out and get drunk every. single. fucking. night.

Fucking freshies, they're so annoying. Especially when they set the fire alarms off, the assholes.

I just drew a medieval knight riding a velociraptor. Lol, my homework.

(Actually, I'm not sure I can use it as homework - I'd already planned to do it before the teacher suddenly changed the subject, and now it doesn't fit anymore, but by then I'd been overtaken with the whole ZOMG dude riding a dinosaur!! thing, haha.)

Well, the snow wasn't nearly as much yesterday, once it turned to ICE. All over the city. I lost count of the times I slipped. I didn't feel as pathetic in account of absolutely everyone walking slow with little steps, looking straight to the ground. That is, we all looked like penguins. It was incredibly cold but I braved it and went shopping - i got myself an incredibly cheap, incredibly bland pair of wellington boots, some more groceries and --- comics! I found the prettiest, coziest little comic book store ever. So now I'm the proud owner of: Superman Secret Identity, Criminal (Ed Brubaker's supposed masterpiece) and DMZ: Friendly Fire. AND, best of all, XOXO, James Jean's postcard collection. It's so beautiful I want to just keep looking at it and pet it and coo at it all day long. ♥

And now, of course, I feel semi guilty already because my mom just read me my account's balance. Er. I've spent SO MUCH these past few weeks, although it's mostly been a bazillion groceries and pots and duvet and pillows and stuff. Still. Er. That said, though, that also includes both a trip to Chester this sunday and a two day trip to Edinburgh next weekend, and those were pretty good inversions. THEY TOTALLY WERE, OKAY.

Why does fast food taste better in here than back home, anyway? You would think it wouldn't be so - Mexican 'fast food' (tacos, enchiladas, basic cenaduria stuff) are so popular and cheap that fast food really can't compete with it unless it's pretty decent - and it isn't, not usually. And yet, McDonalds doesn't suck nearly as much in the UK. HUH. I went out for coffee with my 'buddy' today (we're all assigned a Leeds Uni student to show us around a bit). She studied in my city last year, so we bonded over our missing tacos, haha. She has crazily awesome stories - her friend dated PETE DOHERTY. I mean. Pete Doherty, wtf. And she met him and she says he's a mess. Which. Not really surprising, no, and she's also met Gael Garcia Bernal quite randomly. I sort of want to be her when I grow up, lol.

I had the most awesome class ever today. It was introduction to textiles and I THOUGHT it'd be something like 'Here, people, this is wool!!' or something like it, but the teacher's a chemist, so he just kept blabbing on about the chemical composition and molecular diagrams of synthetic fabrics and I made starry eyes while the rest of the class despaired. Have I mentioned I wanted to study chemistry (so bad) when I was in high school? I REALLY like chemistry, even though I haven't taken it in like, three years. EEK, SO COOL.

And then me and a bunch of people were SUPPOSED to go ice-skating but the line was too long, so we went to a pub instead. And then I had bangers and mash for the first time! MMM, SO GOOD. SO, SO GOOD. I do love food, if you haven't been able to tell already XD And then we went to OTHER pub, haha. Good times, good times. But everyone's leaving for Liverpool tomorrow in a day trip I was too late to get tickets to, so I'll be all alone, boo. I think I'll do laundry? And catch up on the bazillion shows on my hard drive. Yeah.

TELL ME, what other British foods do I just HAVE to try? (that don't have fish on them. Or egg. Er. So I'm a picky eater, say what?)

OH, AND [livejournal.com profile] mon_starling? I'll be in Edinburgh on Feb. 14 and 15, will you be there at that date? Say yessss.

Before christmas, my dad took my laptop to work with him so people in the design department there could install office and the adobe creative suit. Office was installed all right, but they installed CS2, which made me headdesk a lot, as I have all my documents in CS3. So I went and ~acquired~ a copy and installed it myself, easy as pie, although I know my dad will whine a bit about the dodgy ~acquiring~ process, lol. In any case, me and my beloved CS3 are reunited again! Bliss. *hugs illustrator close* I saw CS4 in several mac stores in the US, and salivated a bit. I could've bought that one, but no one has it yet, and it'll just be a bother if I go somewhere to print and the document can't be opened. So I'll probably just wait a year or so, until it's more widely used.

To celebrate, I made folder icons!! ALSKJLSDJ;JF MY LAPTOP LOOKS SO CUTE NOW.

Photo evidence! Or rather, screencaps. YOU GUYS, MY DOWNLOADS FOLDER IS A PIRATE, YESSSS. )

I shall continue pimping my ride, hee. If anyone wants any of those icons or something like that, I'd be happy to share or make some others, or something, it's rather fun. :D

HI GUYS I'M BACK. Back from where? you might be asking yourselves, and the answer is: from the endless black pits of HELL my homework and final projects were, and from those sad, sad days when my internet decided to curl up and die. THAT'S WHERE.

After some of the most stressful, tiring, long, horrid days since I started college, SCHOOL IS FINALLY OVER. HELL YEAH. Well, I still have to track down a teacher to hand in my final project, but STILL. The big Greenpeace campaign from Design class is OVER OH THANK FUCK and I actually crashed at like, 9pm yesterday, I was that tired, and slept for about 12 hours. And now I ACHE all over from all that work with wood for the past week and I have a cold but hey, at least I'm free. YEAH.

There shall be fic in a moment which I would have wanted to post yesterday but RE: my internet: DEAD DEAD DEAD. When I write a scene that I sort of FORGOT to write that is. UM. Anyway, all in the ~build up~ for the LEGENDARY Merlin finale yesssss. ER.

And now I'm getting more DMZ because I started reading it while I was sad and internetless and holy shit but it is ridiculously good and I shall rec it more extensively later. Yeah.

I spent most of the day in the industrial design workshops, where I got to use a GIANT electric saw. And it was AWESOME. I might have to change my stand in regards to big machinery (which used to run along of the lines of ZOMG SCARY DO NOT WANT GET AWAYYYY), because I felt quite hardcore cutting all that wood, yeah.

There was also heavy lifting of said awful wood and much gluing and more lifting of presses to glue (I won't be able to use my arms at all tomorrow, I can just tell) and I have sawdust up to my brain. That part wasn't as nice. As, you know, THE GIANT ELECTRIC SAWWWW.

I WAS going to a friend's house so he can help me with my video final project (which actually has little to nothing to do with video stuff, and all with Flash programming, but my laptop refuses to install Flash again after the second time I reformated), but he didn't have time. SO YAY FREE EVENING? Sort of, because I have homework, but I did need the break ASAP, so it's all good.

Merlin fic is 2800 words right now, and it's still missing a couple thousand. Yay me. :3 AND it's finally all typed, since I've been neglecting to do so all week long, lol.

NEW MERLIN TOMORROW, BY THE WAY, YAAAAAY. If anything could make me happy right now, it is the gay show of gay. :DDD

Today was INSANNNNE. Me and teh teammates were printing and/or giving the finishing touches to our Greenpeace campaign since 9 am to 3:30pm. IT WAS PAINFUL. And horribly stressing. And we messed up the imposition in the final document and the, uh, cornisas (wonder how's it called in English...) ended up on the wrong sides of the page. WOE. BUT the assignment is ALMOST over, so I can at least breathe easier.

I've been ~acquiring~ Pushing Daisies all evening long in social service, 'cause when I got home my brother was bitching that there'd been no internet since morning. As he doesn't have anything else whatsoever to do, he's in crisis. Bad thing is, I only got half of PD, because the internet in here is also running quite slow. BOO.

AND NOW I SHALL GO AND EAT TACOS BECAUSE I ~DESERVE~ THEM, HONESTLY.

Aw, I didn't get to write anything at all today. Just when I was getting back into the groove, too. Bah.

I did get a lot of homework done, though. AND I had my Scenic Make-up final exam, for which I DRESSED MY BROTHER AS A ZOMBIE. LOL. I did a latex prothesis in the shape of a jawbone, and that was mostly the thing that didn't turn out right. The rest, though, was bloody and green-ish and awesome and he nearly weeped when he had to take all that latex off him, haha. I'll post pictures as long as he gives me back the camera, hee. :D He kept the make-up on as we walked to the parking lot (some 5 crowded blocks away) and people stared, haha.

(It was long, though. It took about, um, almost 4 hours on my feet? And I would've stayed longer if it hadn't been because my blood pressure took a drop, and I needed some coke RIGHT AWAY and everyone in the arts school part of campus is so bloody naturalist that they only sell JUICE. I normally wouldn't mind, because I don't like sodas, but I felt crappy, sooo.)
