THE LIBERTNES PLAY TOGETHER AGAIN. ALSJFLASJD. Granted, Drew was on bass instead of John, but. WHY CAN'T I BE IN LONDON NOW, DAMNIT. So close, yet so far awaaaaaaay. ;___; AND YET. OMG. SO EXCITING.

I swear I'm teary-eyed, and everything.

Why does fast food taste better in here than back home, anyway? You would think it wouldn't be so - Mexican 'fast food' (tacos, enchiladas, basic cenaduria stuff) are so popular and cheap that fast food really can't compete with it unless it's pretty decent - and it isn't, not usually. And yet, McDonalds doesn't suck nearly as much in the UK. HUH. I went out for coffee with my 'buddy' today (we're all assigned a Leeds Uni student to show us around a bit). She studied in my city last year, so we bonded over our missing tacos, haha. She has crazily awesome stories - her friend dated PETE DOHERTY. I mean. Pete Doherty, wtf. And she met him and she says he's a mess. Which. Not really surprising, no, and she's also met Gael Garcia Bernal quite randomly. I sort of want to be her when I grow up, lol.

I had the most awesome class ever today. It was introduction to textiles and I THOUGHT it'd be something like 'Here, people, this is wool!!' or something like it, but the teacher's a chemist, so he just kept blabbing on about the chemical composition and molecular diagrams of synthetic fabrics and I made starry eyes while the rest of the class despaired. Have I mentioned I wanted to study chemistry (so bad) when I was in high school? I REALLY like chemistry, even though I haven't taken it in like, three years. EEK, SO COOL.

And then me and a bunch of people were SUPPOSED to go ice-skating but the line was too long, so we went to a pub instead. And then I had bangers and mash for the first time! MMM, SO GOOD. SO, SO GOOD. I do love food, if you haven't been able to tell already XD And then we went to OTHER pub, haha. Good times, good times. But everyone's leaving for Liverpool tomorrow in a day trip I was too late to get tickets to, so I'll be all alone, boo. I think I'll do laundry? And catch up on the bazillion shows on my hard drive. Yeah.

TELL ME, what other British foods do I just HAVE to try? (that don't have fish on them. Or egg. Er. So I'm a picky eater, say what?)

OH, AND [livejournal.com profile] mon_starling? I'll be in Edinburgh on Feb. 14 and 15, will you be there at that date? Say yessss.

ZOMG YOU GUYS, WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE LIBERTINES ARE BACK TOGETHER, NO WAI! Okay, so it was a one thing only but STILL! Pete and Carl! Playing/sweating/getting smashed together! while looking into each other's eyes and being unappropiately close to each other! THIS IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. ♥

In other news, I watched the pilot for Fringe and liked it A LOT, even if I know all actual scientists are probably going SCIENCE DOESN'T WORK LIKE THAT, DAMNIT. Still, I luuurve a good conspiracy story and this one is very Alias with a very Lost YAY DETAIL theme going on, so I'll keep on watching. Also, Joshua Jackson looks all of eighteen years old. It makes me sort of ansty. UM.

ALSO. THAT PAIR OF ANGSTY, PRETTY BROTHERS IS BACK ON TONIGHT. YOU KNOW. THOSE TWO THAT LIKE TO KILL EVIL STUFF. AND BE ANGSTY. AND AWESOME. YAY. ALSO, MEATHOOKS.

I finally got a hold of Dirty Pretty Things new album, Romance at Short Notice. Well. It's better than their first album (but it had to be), but I found it somewhat unremarkable. I've only listened to it once and while reading, so I might just have to immerse myself in it? Dunno. We'll see.

I read Pride of Baghdad by Brian K. Vaughn last night, and it was just both adorable and cruel and painful. But mostly so well done - the script is real good (nothing I didn't expect from this author) and the art was just gorgeous. I nearly cried at the end. ;___; I also caught up with Runaways, and while I liked the YAY TIME TRAVEL storyline, I'm glad a new arc is starting, it was starting to drag.

More than anything else, though, what I've mostly been doing this past week is reading Amelia Peabody books like CRAZY. Man. I love Amelia and her wacky prose. And her wacky children. With their wacky love affair. AND THE WACKY MUMMIES. I DO LOVE MUMMIES. I've been re-reading all the books I own and reading assorted ones in .pdf and it's been GRAND. :DDD

(I was reading a very good but very dense book, Mañana el la batalla piensa en mi by Javier Marías, and sorta had to take a break. TOO MUCH WORDINESS.)

And now I'm dying to watch Helloby II. Guillermo del Toro was here for the premier last week, but I was away. WOE. But everyone keeps saying it's pretty much the second coming, and that I should be at the theatre like, RIGHT NOW. SO EXCITED GUYS. And Hancock, too, I really want to see it as well.

I've been doing homework almost all day long as well today, but oddly enough I feel somewhat zen about it. Huh. Even if I still have a bit to go. Maybe it is because it involves using a lot of PEARS. They're so green and lovely and a bit wet because I dipped them in water before I took the photo for ~extra deliciousness~ and pears are just zen on themselves? Who knows.

I talked to Juanjo this morning - he sounded a bit better, but still quite messed up. Bah, life sucks so much sometimes.

I know this journal has been seriously lacking in the fannish departmen for a while now, but just think about this: Two more weeks and then it'll be TWO WONDERFUL MONTHS of scratching my belly and doing nothing. YESSSS. And THEN I'll spam you. :3 Anyway, I really feel like writing, too - Bones apocafic, and I finally figured out how to make that certain crossover work for my [livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon entry AND I sort of want to write snarky Tony/Pepper or genfic or whatever from Iron Man because that's the fic I've been liking better as of lately and apparently all the cool kids are doing it anyway. lulz.

Aaaanyway, this interview with Dirty Pretty Things was absolutely lovely. It's been a while since we've gotten something other than pure lulz out of the boys, and now I have to say I'm all hyped up about the new album. It BETTER not suck, dear Carlos. Just saying.

Out of sheer luck, I changed the channel JUST as the last episode of Seven Ages of Rock focused on The Libertines. CARL BARAT MUMBLING NONSENSE IN MY SCREEN,HELL YEAH. ♥ Trust it to me to miss the last few eps thanks to not remembering the day it air and then stumble against the part with the Libs, haha.

I really have to be on the look out for reruns, though, I really want to see the other eps...

Okay this is my favorite April Fool's joke, hands down. Maybe because it breaks my heart a little to know it isn't true?

I WANT 'LIBERTINES REUNITE!' TO BE AN ACTUAL HEADLINE, DAMNIT.

(Doherty, who has been training for the London marathon, is set to launch his own flavour of crisps with Walkers this summer. Two flavours; ‘Cheese & Albion’ and ‘Lethal Cocktail’

lol.)

Wow, Nickelodeon is already airing Book 3: Fire from Avatar! I had no idea they were so ahead! And they're playing Nightmares and Daydreams right now, so it's not as if they're so behind. Aw, I'd forgotten just how crackalicious and fun this ep is. ♥ There was also Katara/Aang which is just made of awesome. (I refuse to call it Kataang because it sounds ridiculous. I do like calling Zuko/Katara Zutara because it's so icky and cringe-worthy that it deserves the icky and cringe-worthy name, lol.) Also, Toph's voice in Spanish SUCKS SO HARD.

I finally finished Wuthering Heights some days ago and even though I have Alice in Wonderland in my to-read list, I just refuse to read more classics. God. 5 classics in a row, I really needed to read something vaguely new. So I re-read this French book from my childhood's collection about a boy becoming penpals with Cathering Earnshaw. I don't think I'd even heard of Wuthering Heights when I first read it, so I was mostly confused, lol. But it was still lovely, weird Spanish Spanish translation notwhitstanding. And now I'm reading Boquitas Pintadas by Manuel Puig, this wonderful writer from Argentina. It is weird but good so far. :)

In honor of the anonymouse wank in [livejournal.com profile] thelibs_daily a while ago, I re-watched the infamous 'Buffalo' interview. HEE. OH CARL. OH PETE. I LUFFS YOU SO.

It is SPN Thursday! Finally! YAY. So how many episodes are left, anyway?

Anyway, while I'm here chewing my nails while I wait for a download to be available (aka, tomorrow), THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE COMM EVER. [livejournal.com profile] garyisnotamused! With, dum dum dum... LIBERTINES MACROS. LOL. So funny, I swear XD

Here's a sample. with bonus Franz Ferdinand, Johnny Borrell and gratuitious Doctor Who/Torchwood references. And, you know, CRACK. And then some. HEEE.

In other musical news: I don't like Rehab at all, and the media hypes her too much, so I never really cared for Amy Winehouse until You Know I'm No Good came out in here and I finally checked her music. And man, but she's a damn fine artist. Color me awed. Truly, Her music is quite amazing, all jazzy and sultry and smart! This, of course, only makes me sadder about her, because at the rate she's going? she might not last long. Poor Wino. I do hope she straightens up, she's too talented to go down.

in which I talk a lot about the Beatles. Um. )

Ever since this little trend of mine started with the Libertines of getting obsessed with broken-up bands my source of happiness is that Travis is getting ready to record a new album! YAYZ. I'm so very excited, doubly so because it's mostly because Dougie's having his first baby in March, which makes me go AWWWWWW so fucking much, haha.

AND Dirty Pretty Things is kiiiinda ready to release their second album. YAY? I'd be more excited if I liked their first album better, in all honesty. BUT HEY. Babyshambles' new album was sort of fantastic and it was such a pleasant surprise, maybe it'll happen again now? (because in the same fashion, Down in Albion was made of suck, although Waterloo to Anywhere didn't quite reach that level of lameness.)

And now that I think about it, there hasn't been any worthwile news in the Libs fronts for a while, isn't it? Other than Carl's horrendous taste in pants (seriously what was he thinking? Those things made me yearn for the tight tight tight black trousers) and Pete's bad haircut and mention in VH1's 'best of 2007' because of the druggie kittens, there hasn't been much. I mean, no one's been sent to rehab (again), no one's playing in jails or being ditched by supermodels or doing anything interesting, boo. WE NEED A 'PETE AND CARL SHOP TOGETHER' SIGHTING. Just to get things interesting, lol.
