Was there ever a doubt that Legend of Korra was going to be anything but amazing?

And of course it didn't disappoint )

I've already watched the trailer for Legend of Korra far too many times. It looks so epic and gorgeous and amazing and I already love Korra to bits and the animation looks so seamless and fluid and a;ldsjalsdjf. I CANNOT WAIT.

I spent the weekend at a relative's friend's ranch, along with my entire extended family and said owner's own extended family. It involved a lot of dirt, agaves, and pretty dangerous but awesome quad bike riding. There were also sleepovers. It's also really weird, but one of my former classmates from uni is dating one of my cousins, which is awkward considering me and a friend used to sit around and sort of stalk him and talk about how hot he was. ER. My cousin is so not ever knowing that, yeah.

In much moew serious news, I'm really sad about Amy Winehouse's passing. She was such a talented, amazing musician, and it's so sad that it ended this way. :(

People! YOU MUST READ THIS. For it is precious and amazing.

Water Tribe, a fantastic Avatar AU in which Admiral Zhao's life is spared by the water spirits, and he's offered a new life in the Northern Water Tribe, without remembering who he was, or about his firebending. THIS IS SO GREAT, REALLY REALLY. This is the most fantastic fan comic ever, and it was made by someone that did storyboarding in the actual series, and both the art and the story makes it feel just like getting a lovely sequel after the series' finale. SIGH.

In a less amazing note, dipping my toes back into the fandom always makes me realize why I won't usually touch it at all. Maybe it'll be different with the new people that are discovering it and loving it post movie-wank, hopefully. The thing I hate more about the batshit Zutara fans (the really crazy ones, I mean, not people that just enjoy the ship and go on with their lives) is how they constantly feel the need to bitch about how 'omg what a disgusting person Aang is oh god he's such a little shit, blah blah blah.' Dude, rock on with your pairing of choice, but don't diss on other characters just because they're getting in between your ship! Be a grown up, damnit. WHY SO WANKY, FANDOM, WHY SO WANKY.

SO, I've seen The Last Airbender.

Well, it's pretty bad.

I mean, I've definitely seen worse, it's not the most horrible movie the world has seen, but the original material is so, so wonderful that it makes the movie seem even worse by comparison.

I MISS AVATAR. The real one. I think a re-watch is in order!

For all that Shyamalan's Avatar movie's casting was made of fail, I have to admit the movie looks quite impresive. UMMM.

Anyway. Settling back into life in Mexico, it feels a bit weird if I have to be honest, and at the same time it doesn't 'cause it's so familiar? It's WEIRD, there. After a couple of frights with both my university in here and Leeds Uni (all mistakes on their part, wtf), I hope I don't have to do any paperwork anymore until I start applying for my masters in there (have to get in, have to get in). Got my schedule for next semester ready and it doesn't suck nearly as much, so yay for that.

Talked to the boy on skype for three hours today, we played chess, haha. It's not the same, I miss being able to touch him so much, but it's something, and it keeps me from going completely depressed.

My epic summer tv watch has started, as I want to catch up on all I missed during the semester (while I was too besotted to mind about watching snooker (I mean snooker, for fuck's sake, I deserve a fucking medal for patience) instead of my usual series (though it was a joy to get to disctract him from said snooker or golf or whatever else boring sport of the day, I must admit). As I watched this horrible new reality today, NYC Prep and it was just foul, Gossip Girl got to be on top of my to-watch list, so I could get the horrible taste out of my mouth. Up to ep. 20 today, shall watch the rest of the season in the next couple days. Thoughts so far? OH BLAIR. OH CHUCK.

Wow, Nickelodeon is already airing Book 3: Fire from Avatar! I had no idea they were so ahead! And they're playing Nightmares and Daydreams right now, so it's not as if they're so behind. Aw, I'd forgotten just how crackalicious and fun this ep is. ♥ There was also Katara/Aang which is just made of awesome. (I refuse to call it Kataang because it sounds ridiculous. I do like calling Zuko/Katara Zutara because it's so icky and cringe-worthy that it deserves the icky and cringe-worthy name, lol.) Also, Toph's voice in Spanish SUCKS SO HARD.

I finally finished Wuthering Heights some days ago and even though I have Alice in Wonderland in my to-read list, I just refuse to read more classics. God. 5 classics in a row, I really needed to read something vaguely new. So I re-read this French book from my childhood's collection about a boy becoming penpals with Cathering Earnshaw. I don't think I'd even heard of Wuthering Heights when I first read it, so I was mostly confused, lol. But it was still lovely, weird Spanish Spanish translation notwhitstanding. And now I'm reading Boquitas Pintadas by Manuel Puig, this wonderful writer from Argentina. It is weird but good so far. :)

In honor of the anonymouse wank in [livejournal.com profile] thelibs_daily a while ago, I re-watched the infamous 'Buffalo' interview. HEE. OH CARL. OH PETE. I LUFFS YOU SO.
Music:: Avatar on tv!
nekare: (The Libertines)
Sorry for spamming the hell out of your flists yesterday, folks, I don't know what came over me. Maybe I need to get out of this house? Maybe I need to go back to school already? MAYBE. But I'm actually quite okay with being cooped up all day long, lol.

Well, in between all of that spam yesterday I forgot completely to say that I saw Help! two nights ago and found it to be the crackiest thing that ever cracked and it was FANTASTIC. The boys still couldn't act, but oh who cares. There's car chases! And random music videos! and 'Eastern' psycho cults! And tiny naked Paul! Really, it was so much fun even if it's so silly, haha. Also, I love color movies from the 60s because it looks so pretty - the blues and the reds look so vibrant, yayz. SO YAY.

And I just saw the last two episodes of Arrested Development, and oh my heart, but I miss it already. ;____; SO GOOD. SO MUCH FUN. SO MUCH GAY. I really do hope that movie will happen, especially now that Micheal Cera's name carries a bit more weight, so it'll get more of an audience. Also, George Micheal/Maeby for the fucking win. One of my first OTPs, I swear. *g*

I also found out today that the girl playing Ann in Arrested Development voices Katara in Avatar! Holy fandom mash up, batman!

Oh, I just saw the latest Avatar episode, The Firebending Masters, and it was truly a thing of beauty, both stylistically and plot-wise. S3 has been sort of lazy, but episodes like this one, The Awakening and Day of the Black Sun pts. 1 and 2 save it.

Also, I've always been impressed and awed by the way the writers can mix oriental cultures in such a coherent and wonderful way - it makes every separate culture richer, in a way - but this episode took the cake. Mixing mesoamerican cultures (especially Aztec, Teotihuacan, Maya and Inca cultures) with cambodian and Hindi cultures? FOR THE MOTHERFUCKING WIN. And it was so seamlessly mashed up! So wonderful, truly.

MY AVATAR LOVE, IT IS FINALLY ALIVE AGAIN.

(Even if I still want to strangle half the people over at [livejournal.com profile] avatar_fans for being so stupidly juvenile and immature and fucking spammy.)
nekare: (The Libertines)
Lol, Appa's Lost Days was on tv just moments ago and it's really weird, because when I started watching the show in earnest, I was used to the Spanish voices and now in reverse and I can't help but think EWWW THAT'S NOT AZULA'S VOICE, WHAT THE HELL, lol.

Avatar 3x10-3x11 - Day of the Black Sun: )

You know, I'm one step away from defriending [livejournal.com profile] avatar_fans because people are usually so dumb over there. That and because they're going EEEEW SPOILER CUTS, THEY'RE SO TEEEEMPTING! and really, cry me a river, bitches, there's a bazillion posts with uncut, spoilery icons everytime a new episode airs BUT OF COURSE NO ONE OUTSIDE THE US EXISTS, SO HOW COULD THEY GET SPOILED??? Man. You don't hear me bitching about being spoiled every week, so stop whining already for NOT getting spoiled, just having the POSSIBILITY to do so. *eyeroll*

Oh, Avatar was really really good this week! Finally, something that isn't filling! Granted, they were fun filling episodes, but nothing beats some good old fashioned intrigue and bending story. :)

ALSO. THAT WAS THE SLASHIEST EPISODE OF AVATAR I'VE SEEN IN MY LIFE. *cough*

ANYWAY. I have a costume party tonight! I'm going as little red riding hood, lol. I'll try and post pics tomorrow and now I gotta be off because I want to curl my hair. *g*
