I finally got a hold of Dirty Pretty Things new album, Romance at Short Notice. Well. It's better than their first album (but it had to be), but I found it somewhat unremarkable. I've only listened to it once and while reading, so I might just have to immerse myself in it? Dunno. We'll see.
I read Pride of Baghdad by Brian K. Vaughn last night, and it was just both adorable and cruel and painful. But mostly so well done - the script is real good (nothing I didn't expect from this author) and the art was just gorgeous. I nearly cried at the end. ;___; I also caught up with Runaways, and while I liked the YAY TIME TRAVEL storyline, I'm glad a new arc is starting, it was starting to drag.
More than anything else, though, what I've mostly been doing this past week is reading Amelia Peabody books like CRAZY. Man. I love Amelia and her wacky prose. And her wacky children. With their wacky love affair. AND THE WACKY MUMMIES. I DO LOVE MUMMIES. I've been re-reading all the books I own and reading assorted ones in .pdf and it's been GRAND. :DDD
(I was reading a very good but very dense book, Mañana el la batalla piensa en mi by Javier Marías, and sorta had to take a break. TOO MUCH WORDINESS.)
And now I'm dying to watch Helloby II. Guillermo del Toro was here for the premier last week, but I was away. WOE. But everyone keeps saying it's pretty much the second coming, and that I should be at the theatre like, RIGHT NOW. SO EXCITED GUYS. And Hancock, too, I really want to see it as well.
