I've spent the entire weekend crying thanks to cinema. I don't complain, though.

All of that waiting finally ended and Juno was released on theaters on Friday. yay! I really liked it. It was cute and funny and well done, and had some fantastic music. I found it to be more like Garden State than Little Miss Sunshine, if you're going to compare indie movies that have nothing to do with each other. Buuuut, whatever. Maybe I was too PMStic, but I seriously bawled my eyes out at the end. Um. But really, Ellen Page for Best Actress? Come on. I love the gal, but if anything she deserved the nomination for Hard Candy (she's fucking scary in that one), not for this one.

And then I saw Atonement again, and my, but it looked so incredibly gorgeous in the big screen. *happy sigh* I didn't cry nearly as much as I did the first time I saw it, but it's still one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen, visually, and I could hear people sniffling along the room. My dad loved it, too, especially the ending, which I guess makes him a heartless bastard. Or something. It's really good in the second viewing too - so many details just stand up, this time around.

And then I just finished watching The Fountain, and I don't think I'll ever watch that movie and not cry like a baby. Oh, my heart. It aches, and yet this movie gives me a fascinating feeling of peace. And now I have to do a short essay and why it's good, technically speaking, for a school assignment. Best assignment ever, I guess XD

Well, I just came back from seeing No Country for Old Men, and honestly? I don't get the hype. It's a well done film, and it's got some damn fine acting, but it's just not cohesive, and built on stereotype over stereotype. It's too bare, also - no score, too-spare photography. Hmm. Javier Bardem was incredibly terrifying as a completely soulless assasin, though. Also, the ending sucks. Quite a bit. So, yeah. Dunno. And to people that go see it: please do remember that there are honest, hard-working Mexican people that have never seen drugs or a gun in their lives please. Because when I talk about the stereotypes in this movie? Yeah, those aren't the good ones.

And oh, I forgot to mention! Remember some days ago the talk about horrible 'baptisms' of titles in Spanish? Well, here are two other horrible ones: Juno was retitled as 'Juno: Run, Walk and Trip' (LOL, WTF) and There Will Be Blood was retitled as 'Bloody Oil'... which is sort of hilarious, honestly XD. It's PetrĂ³leo Sangriento in Spanish, which rather than funny just sounds pathetic. And melodramatic. ARGH.

Anyway, my homework for tomorrow's Video I class is to review a movie I love and in a technical and thorough way, and I chose to use The Fountain. It's long, though, so I'm not translating it, but in case you guys are interested, here it is. Who knew making movie reviews for fun could ever prepare me for homework? )Huh, I sound much smarter in Spanish than in English. That doesn't hold true when I'm talking though, because I usually sound over-excited and childish in any language I'm speaking, haha.

In other news, I have 5000 words of Sam/Dean fic in my hard drive and I'm not over yet, ho ho.
