you know, that's just it. you hit the nail on the head with that. i know that epilogue was meant to show that Harry & Co. got their happily ever after in the end. but it's just a bit jarring after, like you said, all those chapters of stuff that makes you want to cry your face off. i get what JKR was going for but it just felt too weird, like it wasn't part of that same book.

lashdfas The Forest Again. ;_; i think that might be my very favorite part from all seven books. omg, Ale, by the time James says "Until the very end." i am such an embarrassing mess of stupid sobbing girl. that whole scene was just so ridiculous. i love it so much.

dammit, i feel the need to get teary now just thinking about it. D:

Exactly, that and the fact that JKR has really grown as a writer in these 17 years, and it just feels incredibly weaker than the rest of the book. I wouldn't have minded if the book had ended right before the epiologue, actually - sure, people would've then bitched about it being too open and not knowing Harry's kids' stupid names (because in my experience, people are always just looking for an excuse to bitch), but hey, interviews are our friends. I, for one, loved whatever tidbits of information she's already given out.

My favorite favoritest scene is still when they're all in the Shack in PoA, but yes, The Forest Again is really high up there too, it's just wonderful. Between all the ghosts going with him to his death and Harry whispering 'I'm about to die' to the snitch, oh boy, but my heart almost can't take it. ;___; Too beautiful, and I really don't get how could people be all 'OMG IT SUCKS IT SOUNDS LIKE A FANFIC' while they didn't know if the leak was, in fact, book 7 or not. Pfft, I say, like any of us could've written that. Sure, lots of people could've written it better in terms of style, but the plot? No way.

I KNOW, OMG. I felt like crying everytime Remus or Fred were onscreen when I re-watched OotP, and then made a sad face everytime I read their names while I was re-reading DH. *cries some more*

i agree that the ending of the book prior to the epilogue would have been fine. i think i could have possibly lived a full and rich life never knowing that Albus Severus and Scorpius existed. [ahahaha AS/S. i must ask, Ale, do you ship ASS? :P] and just like you said it's not as if JKR would never have given us the info at some later date. hell, she'd considering an HP Encyclopedia already so it wouldn't have been so bad to end it there.

ooh yeah the Shack scene is all sorts of AWESOME! that is definitely up there in my top favorites. sdkjsdkj when he said that to the snitch i was all *CHOKE UP* and then it just really hit me when those godddamn lovable Maruaders showed up. sigh. i am too attached to those bastards. i've seen some people saying that it was a failure and it sucked as a series end and all that just makes me scratch my head. it was more than i expected it to be and now i have to go read about Sirius' room and get all sniffle-y over how awesome he must have been. XD

OMG FRED. now, i was expecting Remus to die. and maybe the mwpp fangirl in me was all "IF HE DIES HE CAN HANG OUT WITH HIS BOYS AND MAKE OUT WITH SIRIUS AGAIN!! :D" so that made it easier to accept. [i know, i am a dork.] but i didn't see Fred's death coming at all. i thought the dead!Weasley would be Percy or maybe Charlie. just... not Fred. D:

WHO DOESN'T SHIP ASS? IT'S TOO FINE A NAME TO NOT SHIP IT. Although I actually like Teddy/James better but shhhh *g*. Mmm, the encylclopedia is going to be soooo much fun!

I really don't get how people didn't like it. Sure, it wasn't perfect, but it was thrilling and awesome and interesting and much, much better written than the first books, so.

Yeah, I wasn't THAT surprised about Remus dying, but FRED. NOES. I was betting on either Percy or Bill (or even Charlie) to die, but certainly not one of the twins. *sniffle* And Hagrid. I honestly thought he wouldn't live through it. o_O

ASS IS THE NEW BLACK. i dunno, it sounded good at the time. :| yesss i like Teddy/James better too. actually, i could give a flying fuck about ASS because i can't help but picture a H/D clone. it really is! i can't wait to see if Sirius ever gets a canon birthday. I NEED TO KNOW THESE THINGS.

it was a good, satisfying ending to me. like you said, not perfect but still damn good and entertaining! with such anticipation built up over the years, i can see some disappointment but to outright be all 'i hated it!!1!' i just don't get it. :\

it was bad enough when George lost a friggin' ear; did he have to lose his other half?! poor Fred. D: and then she said in an interview that George named his firstborn Fred and i was all kahjdklas AWWW ;__; so yeah. and i totally thought Hagrid was a goner too. that surprised me.
