I finished Michael Chabon's The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay yesterday and ;sjfdlsjdfljsdf so fucking good. ♥ An instant favorite, truly - it's just impossible to put down, and all characters are so very well described. I truly didn't want it to end. Sob. It's about a couple of Jewish kids in the 40s who create their own superhero, The Escapist, and about the way the war shapes them, and breaks them. It is seriously gorgeous, and if that synopsis wasn't enough of a deal-breaker, there's boy-kissing too, if you're into that! (and fantastic het too, mind.)

I hate reading long books on the computer, though - there's something about curling up in bed with a fantastic novel. But oh well, I looked everywhere for it, and none of the local book stores carried it (I did get The Yiddish Policemen's Union, though, which has one of the most beautiful cover designs I've ever seen, yay). It'll probably be the first thing I buy when I go to the states in December.

The rest of the day I've been doing a shitty, shitty video of 'textures that represent me' for Video II class (it is edited in windows movie maker. That's how shitty it is.) and catching up with this month's comics. Both New Avengers and Mighty Avengers were pretty awesome (and as always, I can't belive how much is happening in the Secret Invasion tie-ins, while the actual comic is slow as fuck, amazing art notwithstanding), Iron Man War Machine was pretty decent, considering, and Daredevil was good, although Matt is getting a new love interest. I'm TORN about it, because I really like this gal, but then again, every single woman that ever gets within ten feet of Matt Murdock end up a)insane or b)dead. SO. EVERYONE BUT NATASHA, THAT IS. BECAUSE SHE IS AWESOME. Fables was nice, aaaand I've been reading Astonishing X-Men, aka, Joss Whedon's run, and it's been reaaally good so far. GO KITTY. GO GO.

(ALSO. I'm so very confused about the fate of Iron Man comics. Is Invincible Iron Man becoming the regular continuity now? OR WHAT. Because Rhodey took over Iron Man: Director of SHIELD and Tony's fate post Secret Invasion is sketchy as best. ER. Anyway, Invincible Iron Man confuses me on its own, because it's been really, really good, but where does it stand? It's obviously post Civil War, since Tony's director of SHIELD already, but there's not a single Skrull on sight and there's been NO MENTION whatsoever of Happy's death during Civil War and YEAH, COLOR ME CONFUSED.)

AND NOW I HAVE TO FINISH MY HOMEWORK. WOE.

Lol, I ended up getting Daredevil and Elektra icons, haha. They're ALL gorgeous, though, thanks for the tip.

Oh! And I forgot to say: I'm all caught up with Brubaker's run now - and oh, it's been real good so far. Not as good as Bendis, but close. I'm currently reading Mack's run, before Bendis, and ugh, but Quesada's art doesn't fit it AT ALL.

OKAY SORRY but you're the only person in my flist that reads comics, haha, I gotta let it out somewhere. XD

hee, no problem. I don't have many people to talk about this with either!
I'm still catching up on Brubaker's run. I didn't read any Daredevil before, save the old Frank Miller re-imagining of the character from some decades ago. That was good stuff.

I just got all of Frank Miller's run! I haven't started with it yet, but I'm pretty excited about it. :3

also, bad me hasn't read The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay yet. I did borrow it...but I didn't have time to read it. argh. I've only read his kid's novel, Summerland, which was pretty interesting. But I want to get to his other stuff. Especially since he lives in the area and gives a lot of readings at my school. But I don't want to go until I've read his stuff. -headdesk-

in .pdf! (http://www.mediafire.com/?m02zoy2nnn0) read eeeeet. I know, it's such a pain to read long books in the computer, but it's totally worth it, promise.

And zomg, that's so awesome! You should totally go to those readings, he sounds like a pretty fantastic fellow anyway, and then you can tell me all about it, lol. :DD
