So Iron Man 3 has been out for a week in a fuckton of countries and apart from a hilarious in hindsight post about a watch I had not seen any spoilers in tumblr. It's been out for like a day and a half in the US and it's already all over my dash.

good thing I saw it today, then! )

Is anyone else as mystified over the popularity of Clint/Coulson as me? Coulson's cool and all, but in contrast with like, the entirety of fandom, I don't really find him interesting enough to crave fic of him. Saying that they haven't even met in canon doesn't pan out because, well, it's not like Steve and Tony have, either*, but then again they do have like thirty years of BFFdom in comics.**

And anyway, if the option exist of shipping Clint with Natasha*** or Darcy, SWEET GLORIOUS DARCY, well, it feels superflous to me. XD Nah, pretty much all I'm saying is MOAR DARCY FIC.

* Or maybe they have? I must confess I still haven't watched Captain America. I really have to before the movie comes out though!

** Avengers movie fic sometimes confuses me because while I ship Tony/Steve something hard in the comics, I absolutely LOVE Tony/Pepper in the movies. So, yeah. Dunno.

*** I say that, but I much prefer shipping Natasha with Bucky or Matt Murdock. Especially Matt. Ultimate redhair couple for the win! Dunno, they just fit well, she makes him less angsty. Or, you know with BOTH Bucky and Matt! nggh. Matt's probably too Irish Catholic schoolboy to consider it unless it's with Foggy though. SIGH. I luffs Matt and his never ending angst and woe and anger, I really hope that the inevitable movie remake will be a good one.****

**** Speaking of, WHEN DO WE GET A BLACK WIDOW MOVIE. MY KINGDOM FOR A BLACK WIDOW MOVIE.

This post was brought to you by my sudden descent into Avengers fic. All I'm saying is, Tomorrow Belongs to Me and Semaphore are must reads.

I forgot to say! I watched Iron Man 2 yesterday and it was awesome! Not as OMG SHINY as the first one, but rather quite omg shiny as well. I had my doubts about Scarlett Johansson as Natasha, but it was actually rather well done and she was tough and cool without having to be the ~femme fatele~ that the trailers made her out to be. The Tony/Pepper interactions were lovely and squeeful, the action was cool, and the cameos/easter eggs for comics fans were incredible. Also, Tony Fucking Stark continues to be an amazing, fantastic jerk. :D

Doctor Who 5x06 - Vampires in Venice: ) One of those GLEEFUL episodes, you know? When it's not the best of the season but it is awfully entertaining and fun.

I finished Michael Chabon's The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay yesterday and ;sjfdlsjdfljsdf so fucking good. ♥ An instant favorite, truly - it's just impossible to put down, and all characters are so very well described. I truly didn't want it to end. Sob. It's about a couple of Jewish kids in the 40s who create their own superhero, The Escapist, and about the way the war shapes them, and breaks them. It is seriously gorgeous, and if that synopsis wasn't enough of a deal-breaker, there's boy-kissing too, if you're into that! (and fantastic het too, mind.)

I hate reading long books on the computer, though - there's something about curling up in bed with a fantastic novel. But oh well, I looked everywhere for it, and none of the local book stores carried it (I did get The Yiddish Policemen's Union, though, which has one of the most beautiful cover designs I've ever seen, yay). It'll probably be the first thing I buy when I go to the states in December.

Aaaand comic talk! Featuring both New and Mighty Avengers, Iron Man, Daredevil, Fables and Astonishing X-Men. Mostly Iron Man, though. Because that's how I roll. )

AND NOW I HAVE TO FINISH MY HOMEWORK. WOE.

Cut Copy is playing here on Tuesday and all of my friends (well, the ones that share my music tastes, anyway) are broke and I have no one to go see it with. WOE. And I REALLY REALLY want to see them. ;___;

I saw Kiss Kiss Bang Bang on Friday (finally!) and eeeeh, it was so awesome! Fun and smart and so well told. Yay for fake!Noir in sunny LA! And what do you know, Val Kilmer can act! GASP! I'm as surprised as you are, believe me. Michelle Monaghan was better than in anything else I've seen her in, and, of course, Robert Downey Jr. rocked the hell out of it. :D (And, of course, the make out scenes don't hurt, either, lol). So, yeah, it was hilarous and made of win and I loved it. :D

Speaking of RDJ - he was the only reason I went to see Tropic Thunder last week, and, yeah, he was the only good thing about it, too. I mean, it was funny, but so bad at the same time. THE FAKE TRAILER WITH THE GAY PRIESTS WAS THE ACE, THOUGH. AHAHA. WITH THE BLOND!RDJ AND THE ROSARY BEADS!KINK AND THE (INSERT 'IRON MAN FUCKS SPIDERMAN' JOKE HERE) LOL LOL.

There were fun times with family this weekend, I'm done with the wretched student exchange process and I'm painting a skull wearing bottle-green ray bans right now. Good times, in all. :3

I was listening to Alex Turner's aside project today, The Last Shadow Puppets. I liked it! It IS a bit Artic Monkeys. Only not completely. It's very retro, very 60s, very Bond and very Cold War. It should be weird, but oddly, it's not - the songs sound a bit too much like each other, but in all, it's a pretty good album. Didn't see that one coming, lol.

Today was my last flamenco class. Well, not last, because I'm sticking around for another week to find out what the new teacher is like, but the last one with my group as it is, with my own teacher. It was really sad, we all teared up a bit and the place looked so desolate - they're selling all of the old costumes left, and taking the pictures down, and all. It's been ten fucking amazing years, and I wouldn't change it for the world. ♥

I've been reading all of Iron Man: Director of SHIELD, starting from the Extremis arc and oh, but how I'm loving it. Especially since Civil War and especially the Haunted arc - It's just so incredibly well written. I much prefer comics like this, sort of intimate and heavy on the psychology and character development and with mystery and detective work instead of the typical YAY SUPERHEROES KICKING EACH OTHERS page spreads that Marvel is so fond of. But really, it's fantastic! Tony is pretty much on the verge of collapse all the time and feels guiltyguiltyguilty over Civil War and keeps seeing all the people that died because of him - including the Cap. Tony's got Issues, and both Knaufs write them so well. ♥

Weirdly enough, Daniel Knauf also wrote Something Wicked for SPN. Smll world, huh? XD

(The annual was really bad though. It was very Bond, and Bond never translates well to comics - in live action movies, at least, the token sexy female spies will still be affected by gravity and, you know, reality.

There was an add on the backcover of El País Semanal yesterday with Christian Bale that said: Armani for Bruce Wayne. DUDE! That is SO cool! I WANT AN ARMANI ADD WITH TONY STARK IN IT. BECAUSE IT'D BE AWESOME. AND RDJ WOULD LOOK REALLY HOT.

I have three of Batman's most important series (The Killing Joke, Batman: Year One and The Dark Knight Returns) on my hard drive, but I can't seem to think of anything other than Marvel.

Strangely enough, I'd only read the second volume of House of M, and out of the blue Marvel México re-printed it in a single, pretty as hell paperback. And it was so good. So, so fantastically good. ♥ I hardly ever read comics in Spanish, but the translation was surprisingly good, so it's all well. (The House of M outtakes, though, didn't fare that well in the translation department, but they were ALL compiled into one volume and I couldn't resist. UM. Iron Man's was great (YAY FOR FREEDOM FIGHTER TONY!), as was Fantastic Four's (or, you know, Fearsome Four, lol). Spiderman's was a bit too long. Hulk's was just... weird. And the art sucked big time. The Cap's just about broke my heart, oh. And the rest were blah.)

I sort of wished I owned Spiderman's The Other series. Or Civil War, for that matter (even if I wanted to hurt everyone involved. Except for Ben Grimm. Ben Grimm was awesome and the only person that used his brain during the entire run), but the only reason I got to read them was 'cause my ex let me borrow them. So, yeah. No thank you. But still, I remember The Other as being really good - right about the time Tony Stark starts going slightly insane and builds the Iron Spider suit for Peter, and when the New Avengers could still stand each other. OH, GOOD TIMES.

Saying this because I'm really pissed at how things have been going for Spidey since Civil War. In a way, YAY, no one knows who he is anymore! In the other, the retcon was so fucking cowardly. And Peter choosing Aunt May (who was like, going to die veeeeery soon anyway, seriously) instead of Mary Jane was incredibly wishy washy of him. OH PETER. WHAT THE HELL.

In Runaways news, God, but I miss the early days colorist. They past few issues just look so cluttered and weird, and I know they have the same penciller, so really, FIRE THAT COLORIST. So bad, ugh.

Went to see Incredible Hulk today, and guess what, it was GOOD! :D Not amazing, not like Iron Man was, but I gotta say I do like this new trend of Marvel of hiring actually decent actors. It makes wonders, yes. So yes, it was AGES better than Ang Lee's version. Not surprising, though, that one was so bad. It was in SPANISH, though. They weren't SHOWING it in English. AAARGH I HATE it when they do that - they're only supposed to do that when it's a kids film, which this obviously isn't. I'm not sure if I'll see it again, but if I do, I'll have to find a decent cinema that doesn't have a thing against literacy.

The thing is: I'm not a great Hulk fan. Find him a bit of a drag, really. This means that whenever the actual Hulk was on screen I was a bit ERRRR about it, although shit exploding is always nice. BUT, whenever it was Bruce Banner on screen, I LOVED it. OH, EDWARD NORTON. YOU ROCK SO HARD. It was all very subtle but still powerful, and I have to say I ADORED him with Liv Tyler - they had so much chemistry and all of their scenes together were just ace - Jennifer Connelly sucked as Betty Ross, I have to say, but Liv, oh, she was just so good in the role; they're believable together. ME LIKES. It was also very Bourne Identity, or something, which I rather liked as well.

Errr, spoilers. )

As if my obsession with this movie couldn't be more obvious. HA. I couldn't resist the angst, though, because I am, well, me.

I spent most of my day driving my brother around. My life, it is so glamorous.

This interview by MGMT made my day. Man, but I like those guys SO MUCH - they're all weird and simple and like, SO OUT OF IT, haha.

I saw My Little Bride yesterday, which is a cute Korean movie about a high schooler that gets somewhat tricked by her grandfather into marrying his best friend's grandson. HIJINKS ENSUE. Thing is, it's like Goong redux, minus the political intrigue and the hot brooding asshole-y princes. GOD, I MISS GOONG. SO MUCH. Plus, the main actresses look really alike and the gal that played Chae-Kyung's weird heart-something holding also appears in here. HUH. It was still really cute, though, it made me laugh and squee a bit and it was perfect for my mood. So it's nothing extraordinary, but quite nice.

Other than that, WOOT, Iron Man fic is rea-dy (er, as soon as I think of a title, that is) for posting and I'm soooort of starting apocalyptical Booth/Brennan. YAY BONES. I just have to get this out of my mind, and then, then I'll be able to start on my [livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon, seeing that I've finally figured out how to work that specific crossover. Good good.
