This week's episode was... Magnificent. *is still out of breath*
Doctor Who 2x08 - The Impossible Planet:
I hate, hate, hate spoilers, so all I knew of this episode before I saw it was: Ten's hair goes back to normality (THANK GOD), Rose gets her prettiest costume as of now and there's an alien planet. And that was pretty much it, and whoa, but this completely blew me away.
Am I the only person alive that doesn't find the clique-ness that annoying? I actually find it cute, the way they're so atuned to each other. *shrug* I'm only talking about the first, uh, five seconds of the episode? So whatever. "WE HAVE TO FEED-- oh, sorry. You. Want any refreshment?" OMG YES. coolness. The Ood are cool, the way they're so pitiable and you feel for them, which is hard when talking about aliens (I kinda felt bad for Margaret teh Slitheen in Boom Town, but... there was something missing. That something was here), and kudos for Rose bonding with them, questioning people even when every one else was like, "Uh, but that's just how it is..." and yeah, the paralelism between them and the house elves are kinda neat. That is, of course, until you imagine Dobby with glowing red eyes *shudder*.
The crew. The crew was love, since again, you care for them, there's characterization in 45 minutes that you sometimes don't get in a)400 pages book or b)2+something hour long movies (DAN BROWN AND X-3 DIRECTOR I'M LOOKING AT YOU), and when Scootie (or however her name is spelled; see, that's why subtitles are shiny) died I kinda wanted to cry. That's the climax of the episode, for me, Satan!Toby staring at her through the glass and that lovely, beatiful music playing, and then when the rest of the crew look up and Scootie's floating as if underwater... That gave me the chills, and it was perfect and oh so great. *nods* The mystery, too, was just GREAT, with the voices, and the luring, and the Ood going berserk and voices actually talking back. Scary and wonderful.
And my ship. Ooooh, my ship. The comfort hug taht felt so right, and then the awkward, marvelous talk at the pseudo cafeteria, about them getting a house and oooooh, I so hearted that part. And then that helmet!kiss, and waaah, Ten/Rose has never been shinier. Really. The cliffhanger was actually really interesting, yes!! Ugh, as I said, I was unpsoiled, and I didn't get this'd be a two-part episode until it was 15 minutes away and nothing had been solved yet XD
Obviously, I'm making up for not having written a review last week. Of which I still should talk about because my favorite episodes from this season, i order are:
- The Impossible Planet
- School Reunion
- The Idiot's Lantern.
*bounces* Can it be next saturday already? Pretty please?
