This week's episode was... Magnificent. *is still out of breath*

Doctor Who 2x08 - The Impossible Planet:
I hate, hate, hate spoilers, so all I knew of this episode before I saw it was: Ten's hair goes back to normality (THANK GOD), Rose gets her prettiest costume as of now and there's an alien planet. And that was pretty much it, and whoa, but this completely blew me away.

Am I the only person alive that doesn't find the clique-ness that annoying? I actually find it cute, the way they're so atuned to each other. *shrug* I'm only talking about the first, uh, five seconds of the episode? So whatever. "WE HAVE TO FEED-- oh, sorry. You. Want any refreshment?" OMG YES. coolness. The Ood are cool, the way they're so pitiable and you feel for them, which is hard when talking about aliens (I kinda felt bad for Margaret teh Slitheen in Boom Town, but... there was something missing. That something was here), and kudos for Rose bonding with them, questioning people even when every one else was like, "Uh, but that's just how it is..." and yeah, the paralelism between them and the house elves are kinda neat. That is, of course, until you imagine Dobby with glowing red eyes *shudder*.

The crew. The crew was love, since again, you care for them, there's characterization in 45 minutes that you sometimes don't get in a)400 pages book or b)2+something hour long movies (DAN BROWN AND X-3 DIRECTOR I'M LOOKING AT YOU), and when Scootie (or however her name is spelled; see, that's why subtitles are shiny) died I kinda wanted to cry. That's the climax of the episode, for me, Satan!Toby staring at her through the glass and that lovely, beatiful music playing, and then when the rest of the crew look up and Scootie's floating as if underwater... That gave me the chills, and it was perfect and oh so great. *nods* The mystery, too, was just GREAT, with the voices, and the luring, and the Ood going berserk and voices actually talking back. Scary and wonderful.

And my ship. Ooooh, my ship. The comfort hug taht felt so right, and then the awkward, marvelous talk at the pseudo cafeteria, about them getting a house and oooooh, I so hearted that part. And then that helmet!kiss, and waaah, Ten/Rose has never been shinier. Really. The cliffhanger was actually really interesting, yes!! Ugh, as I said, I was unpsoiled, and I didn't get this'd be a two-part episode until it was 15 minutes away and nothing had been solved yet XD

Obviously, I'm making up for not having written a review last week. Of which I still should talk about because my favorite episodes from this season, i order are:
- The Impossible Planet
- School Reunion
- The Idiot's Lantern.

*bounces* Can it be next saturday already? Pretty please?

I was totally thinking of S.P.E.W. with the Ood too^-^ I notice you keep using 'shiny'. Me thinks I detect a Browncoat*winkwink* We seem to share some fandoms.
-DW
-HP
-Firefly/Serenity
-and hopfully BtVS as well (seeing as how you like Firefly) 'cause I was so thinking of The First when the Ood were all "since the dawn of time...blahblah...I am temptation, pain, and sorrow...blahblah...evil...blahblah" and the seal in a pit too.

Haha, it's so odd, I've never seen Firefly! It got canceled in here after the, uh, first two episodes or something, and I've never been able to get it on DVD -- I just find it odd that I sound like a fan *g*

But yeah, sharing the love for the other fandoms ^-^ I kinda hadn't thought of that while seeing the episode, actually, the way it's all oh! Hellmouth! The first is taking control of everyone! And they've even had Giles Anthony Head so oh yeah, pararelism XD

Murray Gold did a beautiful job with the music this episode. Loved the simple string compositions (actually reminded me a bit of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - in a good way).
And yeah, kudos to Rose for doing what we love best about her character! <3

That's just the best music they've had in ANY new DW episode, for real. (it still doesn't beat Casanova's but that's okay *g*)

Yeah, also in the part with her taking the chair, it felt very Rose-y :)

Do not fear, you aren't the only one - I find the cliqe-ness cute too!

I know! It's still not as pretty as Nine/Rose!Camaderie, but that's hard to top, isn't it?

OMG... the WE HAVE TO FEED part. I thought it was hilarious. It was really creepy at first, then when it was revealed that it was a malfunction with their little talking device, I couldn't stop laughing.

"WE MUST FEED... *hits talking device* you! If you are hungry."
"... Sorry?"

Yeah, i was thinking. "The episode has been running FIVE MINUTES and they're ALREADY going to die?" Brilliant plot, must hail writer as ship-king as absolutely amazing.

Yeaaaaah, this writer deserves to be hugged by all the fangirls. Or not, if that would be more compasionate...

yeah that intro was like a really cool cliffhanger, actually a bit better than the actual cliffhanger which didn't involve the Doctor falling down a hole or Rose screaming as an Ood tried to feed on her

The cuteness and awkward lookaway glances because if you do LOOK INTO HIS EYES YOU... fall instantly in love and die happy
*skips off to make more icons like the one in her post *Points to it*

Oh, there was another cliffhanger? *hasn't seen the confidential yet*

Yeah, it's kinda odd because there's never been awkwarkdness between them, and yet it FIT now that they're trapped together, and oooh, my heart still bleeds for the TARDIS.

It really was wonderful, wasn't it? I thought the Ood were the best aliens we've had yet.

And then that helmet!kiss, and waaah, Ten/Rose has never been shinier. And then that helmet!kiss, and waaah, Ten/Rose has never been shinier.

Oh, I nearly died. The whole time they were talking while he was getting ready to go down the mine shaft I was thinking 'C'mon, kiss! Kiss!' Aw, it was too sweet.

Definitely, not only they're cool and scary, they're also nice and weird and they come with posessions for free XD

I know, and it didn't feel corny at all, and let's all cheer the writer for that!

I loved all the shippiness of this episode. Yes I was scared too and the whole show was well done, but the helmet kiss, the awkward mortgage convo, the hug as they realized they were stuck there and the being stuck with you isn't so bad moments were great. I love the cliqueness. They are meant to be on an atuned level with each other. This episode also showed their true concern for each other yet again. Rose wouldn't let go of the comm while he was on the surface and when he heard trouble he kept calling her name and tried to get back to her. I can't wait for next week.

They've just explored the shippiness in such a congruent way with them --nothing feels corny, or weird, it's just them with their glorious awkwardness XD And ooooh yeah, the way they call each other's names so desperately when one of them is trapped *swoons* Lovely. :)

finally watched this episode, and all i kept thinking about was the house elves from harry potter, haha. JK has brainwashed me. It was a good episode, not one of my favorites though, only because when the devil was inside that guy (whose name I can't remember) he reminded me of some scary movie I saw sometime, can't remember the name of it. I can't believe it's another 2 part episode though, why? I can't wait that long :( Ok, it's Tuesday now but still.

She has brainwashed us ALL XD Um, I can't seem to remember a movie like that, but he did look remarkably like Sasuke, from Naruto (which you totally should watch/read, because the slash is just a step from being canon).

Ugh, I know, we'll have to wait all those days and that is sad :( Let's just hope the ending is on par with this one.

Which ones are your favorite episodes?

posted by [identity profile] onadancefloor.livejournal.com at 12:32am on 07/06/2006
I've heard about Naruto actually, and they do play it here but I always feel hesitant about watching anime shows since I always catch them halfway and don't know what's going on. haha.

While I was watching this episode I kept looking at the clock and when it was reaching 40 minutes I kept thinking 'they can't wrap up the show in 5 minutes, noooooo!'

Favorite episodes: End of the World, The Unquiet Dead, Father's Day, The Empty Child, The Doctor Dances, Bad Wolf and Parting of Ways. Also LOVE, Christmas Invasion and lovelove The New Earth (because Rose is hilarious in that one), and last week's The Idiot's Lantern was a classic, the colors were beautiful.

Ah, but that's what manga is for! You can start it at your own rythm. :)

I was just like that! But later we'll get to see them together or something, and won't that be special? XD

Oohh, good choices. :))
