So on last Wednesday, because life is like that, while my boss was behind me, I pulled up firefox instead of mail, right on the tab in which John is about to fuck Sherlock over the back of a couch with gun cleaning oil. SIGH. 

I don't think he registered much other than text lines, but still, so mortifying. I hope work gets to normal soon and I can stop reading porn and playing words with friends obsessively all day long. 

I've been reading candle_beck's Gone Again, after I conveniently ignored the fact that this fic always tears my heart out and stomps it on the dirt. Man, but I could kiss that person that requested the happy ending sequel for that charity exchange.

In other news, I've been reading Connie Willis' Oxford Time Travel series, after reading a fic in which John is a historian and ends up somehow assigned to record Sherlock's history, for which I would hand out money for a sequel. I've read the first two books so far*, and they start a bit slow and then they become completely impossible to put down. The have great characters and lovely ladies obessed with Agatha Christie books and history and time travel paradoxes and explosions and epidemics. What else could you want?

*These are the ONLY books I've read in the year so far, because I tend to just read fic on the kindle and ignore everything else. Har-har. I should probably rectify this. But the pull of the dark side fic is too strong.

So, Lucy Liu as Watson! Single-handedly making me want to watch this show, yesss.

Would I prefer if Holmes was also a lady? Yes. (would I haved loved it if said lady was Indira Varma? alsfjalsdjf sdf yes) Would I prefer if Lucy Liu was Holmes and the other dude from Trainspotting was Watson? Yes, mostly because Watson will always be Holmes' minder and it'll be... er, awkward to see Holmes demanding tea and endless attention from a lady and having him sabotage all of her relationships so she never leaves him etc. etc.

But, Lucy Liu! LADY WATSON, HELL YEAH. And I'm a step away from starting frothing at the mouth at the way half of tumblr seems ENRAGED that they would have a woman sully the good doctor's name and a lot of other crap like that. Fuck's sake, fandom, stop it with the fail.

Even if they do get together anyway, that's canon Holmes/Watson!! Is it Holmes/Watson made non-controversial for middle US? Yeah, but canon Holmes/Watson! Just for how many years have fangirls (and boys) waited for that? And anyway, it's stupidly hypocritical for the same people that demand the buttsecks in Sherlock to go around and talk about the sancticty of their friendship and how it would debase their relationship if they so much as touched each other. Double standars much?

Is Sherlock even a real name? Like, was it common at the time or did ACD just trolled us all by choosing the most random name he could think of?

So today I read The Queen's Guard, which is the modern Sherlock version of Neil Gaiman's A Study in Emerald, and ohhh, but it's so good. I so wish there was more of this, because already it deals with a lot of the, ahem, pecularities of this world, and it has wonderfully creepy imagery. I also wonder if the ever-present Queen is still Victoria :DDD Because that would be ace.

So now I'm re-reading A Study in Emerald again, because it is made of awesome and shiny. And tentacles. I think I'd have a minor attack if Neil Gaiman decided to write a full novel based on it. But it's okay, because he's writing a sequel to American Gods and all is well with the world.

Just read The Final Problem, half of it read pretty much like 'Watson and Holmes' honeymoon trip around Europe', lol. And Moriarty was a bit of a wash. But I hadn't realized John's wibbly words at the end of the Reichenbach Fall (you know which) were pretty much a quote from the books. Aww, Watsons.

I sort of want to read both A Study in Scarlet and A Study in Emerald now!

This is one of the best Sherlock fics I've read so far:

The Anatomist, pre S2. In which Molly's real name is Molly Moriarty. This is so fantastic, it's beautifully written and the idea is amazing and ;sldjf. MOLLY. Even if this is a er, well, more unhinged version of Molly.

And from the same author, in a complete 180 degree change of fandom, Epitaph, Doctor Who, Rose. In which Rose is a VAMPIRE. This is gorgeous and haunting and very very lovely.

And then yesterday I read a fic in which JOHN HAS A KID. AND HE AND SHERLOCK END UP RAISING HIM. Oh my god I nearly died from the cute. Reignite. Seriously though, it's a beautiful fic, and not really crack the way my super awesome summary makes it sound. And even though fridging ladies for the sake of plot tends to make me twitch in anger, I sort of want a little Hamish playing with Sherlock's microscope in every single fic in existance? Errrr.

You know, it's really weird but Robert Downey Jr. as Holmes doesn't do much for me, perhaps because Jude Law's Watson gets me somewhat weak at the knees.*

Strange though, because RDJ's Tony Stark does funny things to my stomach. Especially in all those scenes in Afghanistan - those arms, and the hips and the swagger and ugh. So hot. The Avengers will probably BREAK people with all that hotness together in one single screen.

*I think it's how competent he is. And how superbly badass he comes across. Sherlock's John is still pretty badass, but you still want to pinch his cheeks a lot of the time, you know? And in a weird turn of events that's sort of the same reaction I have to Ritchie's!Holmes. A very 'awwww' one.

Frustrating things: Reading a long fic in which after SEVENTY-EIGHT chapters there's only one sleepy kiss that everyone's ignoring and not even having the decency to have angst about. Then reading a soulbonding fic in which after 13 long chapters of drawn out UST, it politely fades to black as soon as Holmes and Watson get together.

In other news, I just came back from the A&E after getting a horrible cold for the THIRD TIME in a month. I got tested for Swine Flu since a couple other people have died from it this winter, and since it was negative I just got some stronger antibiotics. Damn, but am I ready to be fully healthy again.

So, where's all the post-Reichenbach reunion Sherlock fic at?

Or, incidently, all the post-Reichenbach Sherlock Holmes movieverse fic?

Work felt like it was never going to end today, ugh. And maybe I need new glasses prescription? Because my eyes have been stinging all week long. Then again, probably because it's 8 hours of looking at a computer and then I come home and turn the computer on, lol.
