Oh, I just saw the latest Avatar episode, The Firebending Masters, and it was truly a thing of beauty, both stylistically and plot-wise. S3 has been sort of lazy, but episodes like this one, The Awakening and Day of the Black Sun pts. 1 and 2 save it.
Also, I've always been impressed and awed by the way the writers can mix oriental cultures in such a coherent and wonderful way - it makes every separate culture richer, in a way - but this episode took the cake. Mixing mesoamerican cultures (especially Aztec, Teotihuacan, Maya and Inca cultures) with cambodian and Hindi cultures? FOR THE MOTHERFUCKING WIN. And it was so seamlessly mashed up! So wonderful, truly.
MY AVATAR LOVE, IT IS FINALLY ALIVE AGAIN.
