So, I've already talked about how much I've liked both of the volumes of The Sandman that I've read, but that was before I stayed up until 2 AM to finish The Doll's House. Because this one reminded me of how much of an utter genius Neil Gaiman is. God, but it was creepy (I was actually kinda scared!), and real, and emotional and oooh. I loved it so much (the last part? With the illustrated dreams? OMG SO GOOD). Hopefully I'll be able to get another volume(s?) in the States, where it'll be cheaper.

Today's both my grandad and my godson's birthday, so we got together and had a bit of a party (wich is English for having a bbq). It was fun, three cousins that we'd never met before came from San Francisco, and we ended up having a really good time. I let my 14 year old male cousin drive my car for a while. I am never making that mistake again. (I'm still a bit in shock, after he almost collided with one of my uncle's car out of revenge against him.) Dad left early to check on my grandma, and I came come to find that he had baked brownies. Man, the house smells delicius. :)

ps. Watch at my new icon! Isn't it the hottest thing ever? I shamelessly stole got it from [livejournal.com profile] tokyoghoststory. *drools at icon*

Now I *do* want to see this Nana movie! :)
though I don't know what the story's about ad for the manga...

The story's quite simple, actually (too simple, sometimes): Two girls meet in a train going to Tokyo, and they bond over the fact that they're both named Nana. Oosaki Nana's dream is to make it as a singer, and practically her whole band follows her to Tokyo; and Komatsu Nana wants nothing else but to be happy with her boyfriend in the city. And there's a lot of romantic tangles and so on and on. :)

Quite simple, yeah, but it's better than being too complicated. ;)

¿es lo que en español se conoce como El Arenero? Prefiero los nombres originales pero nunca me he encontrado con un comic suyo. Suerte en eso de conseguir mas volumenes.

Felicidades a los cumpleañeros. Y se antoja ese olor por aqui.

Ps. Tu icono es una joya. *babea tambien*

Last night I read one of his short stories, "Snow, Glass, Apples" that one freaked me out, but it was so good. I have to read The Sandman volumes, I think I'll tackle those later.

That Nana movies sounds really interesting, I watched a trailer of it, let me know if it is good.

And god, I love the icon, I want to run away with and marry it.

Oooh, I haven't heard about that one! Is it included in a short story collection, or something? Because I'd love to get it while I'm in the US... (his books are just like, IMPOSSIBlE to get in here)

Have you read the manga? It's quite pointless (but again, I like plots, that's why I mostly read manga for boys XD), but the character design is soooo good.

*holds her icon close* MINE!

It's in the book "Smoke and Mirrors" BUT I found a copy of it online if you'd like to read it, snow, glass, apples. But yes, go Gaiman happy when you get to the US :D

No, I haven't read the manga, just watched the trailer and it looked interesting.

*lets go of icon* BAH! Fine *pouts*

*smooches* Thanks! I'll go read it in a second. :) *adds book to to-buy list*

Noooo, not the pout-y face! Oh, all right, you can have it. *gives icon away*

I forgot to add!

you can get the movie in here (http://www.nana-nana.net/dvds.html), just scroll a bit until you find the subbed version. It's hosted in megaupload, so it actually helps if a lot of people get to download it. :)

oooh! maybe I'll try to download it while I'm at work. Thanks for the link! I'm looking forward to watching it.

OMG NEIL GAIMAN.

♥ ♥ ♥

... Is such a genius. I may possibly be in love with him. XD

I've only read one volume of The Sandman, 'cause I can never find the thing here, but I must read more. Right now I'm reading Anansi Boys, and it is brilliant.

I KNOW, SUCH BRILLIANCE SHOULD BE ILLEGAL!

Eeeh, how far along are you? I read that book in a single day because I just couldn't tear my eyes away XD

Have you read 'American Gods'? It's much better, although much more serious. *sighs happily at the memory of the book*

And yep, you should totally get The Sandman - the art's not that good at least in the volumes I've read, but the writing more than makes up for it.

AMERICAN GODS. ♥ ♥ ♥

I think I probably liked that one better, as well, but Anansi Boys is a fun story.

I'm still not done Anansi Boys. :( I've had relatives from out-of-town visiting recently, so not much time to read, but I'm hoping to get down to it this weekend. Spider is, alternately, impressing me and annoying the hell out of me.

Haha, I seep Spider as the Sirius Black of this fandom - so cool you can't help but be attracted to him, but annoying as fuck if you'd ever really get to know him XDD

Oh, he totally is. And Fat Charlie is his Remus. Except, without the sex, and stuff. :D

And I've finally gotten the time to finish Anansi Boys. Neil Gaiman is one amazing storyteller -- you read one of his books, thinking it's going to be something, and it turns out to be something completely and utterly different, but just as good, if I'm making any sense at all.

if I'm making any sense at all.

Oh, it does! I love that part of his writing, how he can make you giggle at the beginning just to have the characters tortured in the end, and everything turns so serious and epic and it's just chilling. God, I want his talent ;-;

And I'm so excited - I got 'Stardust' and 'Smoke and Mirrors' while in the US!
