¡VACACIOOOOOOOONES!

¡AL FIIIIIIIN!

Yays, holidays! I've got a lot of homework to do, but who cares, I'M FREEEEEE for two weeks. *dances around*

Okay, I've been doing a lot of comic reading as of lately. First, a pretty lame arc from the Avengers, The gauntlet of infinity of something like it. Dunno, it kinda sucked. *shrug*

Then: I finally got my greedy paws on Endless Nights and alsdjfla;sj I so missed Sandman. ;__; I think my favorite of the seven stories was Dream's, because it had such beautiful art and quite a lovely story. And yes, I admit it, because I freaking missed Morpheus, okay? Delirium's story was pretty kick ass too, though, and the art was JUST what a story about Delirium was supposed to be. Death's was kinda blah, which is surprising considering that is, you know, Death o_O The other stories were okay but nothing incredible, although Destiny's was beautifully drawn. Okay, I'll shut up about this now. *cough*

I also read The Dark Phoenix Saga, and while it was actually pretty good and interesting (OMG X3 WRITERS, HOW COULD YOU HAVE DONE THE DARK PHOENIX WITHOUT SCOTT?! *stabs*), the narrative threw me off big time. It was kinda funny, though, the way they tried to explain EVERYTHING while you would go 'er, yeah, I can see the pictures and I can infere that Jean has in fact, changed her clothes, thank you very much.' *eyeroll* The ending, though, anticlimatic much? o_O But still, yeah, I liked it. (And I'd only ever met the Ultimate Verse Dazzler, and OMG I NEARLY DIED LAUGHING WHEN I SAW DAZZLER AS A DISCO QUEEN. DISCO QUEEN, PEOPLE!! Ultimate!Dazzler would so kick her ass XD)

OMG MY FINGERNAIL JUST BROKE. IT WAS LARGE AND PRETTY, DAMN IT.

Is it too noticeable that I just learned how to change font color and size? Is it? *shifty eyes

The tell me what to write meme! I don't guarantee anything, of course, but it's always fun to see what people can come up with XD

Okay, so I finished The Sandman today. Awww, I didn't want it to end ;___; The Kindly Ones (vol. 9), especially, was just astounding. Along with the fabulous art (it was one of the best drawn volumes in the entire series), the story was just incredibly well written - it was a fine conclusion, you know? bringing together so many loose ties from the earlier volumes, and wrapping them all together under a single storyline. Matthew, especially, I adored, and I was really glad to have his character developed.

I just -- I really love this series. It's daunting and epic and chilling at times, heart-warming at others... This is fantasy at its best, and I love how believable it is, even when we're seeing Delirium walk her pet fish, or listening stories about a man old enough to be Mathusalen. It's very human, surprising for a story about definitely non-human characters. ♥

ANYWAY! I just got cards from [livejournal.com profile] terraneanblues, [livejournal.com profile] such_heights, [livejournal.com profile] pink_faerie81, [livejournal.com profile] aileene25 and [livejournal.com profile] melandry!! OMG I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH!! ♥ ♥ they're all awesome and beautiful and I feel so very loved right now. :))

I finished Ian McEwan's Cement Garden today. It was good, yes, but um. I was expecting a whole different thing from the summary (I was hoping for 'yay family' interactions a la SPN, if I gotta be honest), and instead, it's a really, really twisted tale with a real gritty, dry atmosphere. The characters were well built, but I really wouldn't like to meet any of them, which is strange for me. Also, this features lots of incest, and while one can go and mess around with Wincest and whatever, it's completely different to see it this way, and it's actually kinda squicky (well, a lot.)

I finished The Sandman's 6th volume some days ago, and while it was good, it was pretty much the same as vol. 3 - loose stories. Ramadan, the last one, was gorgeous, though. But! I've already started vol. 7, and it's looking up to be awesome.

Also, um. I seem to be squeeing about SPN really late in the game, aren't I? I watched it on Friday, but I hadn't had a chance to squee about it.

Supernatural 2x07 - The Usual Suspects )Well that was great. It felt like such a 'normal' episode, though, you know? Especially since all that we'd seen of this season had been affected a lot by Devil's Trap and IMToD. A break from the angst, I guess.

Ultimate X-Men update: I can't begin to say how much I loved Magnetic North. Not only the writing was flawless, but Steve Immonen might be my new favorite illustrator for X-Men (and can't they keep him? For like, for good? Pretty please?). It was beautifully drawn, and wow, his inker and colorist are wonderful too. The Story was great! All that lovely plot and so many mutants and so many different points of view - just wow. This one and 'Return of the King' are my favorite arcs.

I haven't gone to the movies for almost a week and a half. This is le sad, and I wanted to go today (to see anything at this point, although I do wanna see 'Monster House' and 'My Super Ex-girlfriend'). 'Thumbsucker's finally out, though, I'll try and go by myself in the week.

I read vol. 4 of The Sandman yesterday, and man, how awesome it is. Still not as good as vol. 2, but it was soooo well done.

I'm writing! I've only like, 300 words, but it's something. Ergo Proxy, though. Post ep 13 but taking some elements from ep 14.

I'm kinda stuck at the moment, though, so, so get my creative juices flowing (and doesn't that sound odd?), I'll write sentence-long fic to whoever comments with a fandom, pairing, and prompt. Go nuts.

And, uh, people I still owe drabbles to, I do still remember about it. They'll be written. Eventually. *cough*

I've been too out of reach as of lately with my RL friends. I open MSN today, and I guess that my best guy friend saying "Look, an Ale!" is very showy. *shifty eyes*

God, it felt good to dance today, it was damn tiring after two weeks without it, but so rewarding. and joy! Bere agreed to lend me Smallville's first season. :)

I found out today that a short story contest I participated in last year (which I didn't mind losing any bit, not with my 2nd place from the other contest under my arm XD) is running again, and I'd like to give it another try, because, damn, the prize it's 7000 pesos! 0_o So, my Spanish-speaking flist, would you mind telling me if Oleaje could stand a shot with proper editing and gramatical checking? Pretty please>? I'll still try and really write more in Spanish, before this one, I hadn't writen anything since late June. Which is depressing.

I've just fallen in love with Kaare Andrew's art (the illustrator of issues 23 and 24 of Ultimate X-Men). Granted, it doesn't fit at all with X-Man, and it probably was a bad idea to let him work on that, but damn can he draw. I'm a cartoon loving freak, after all, so I know my thing - drool worthy and bright and with such movement. Just beautiful. I'll have to check and see whether the guy's done any other comics - I'd be highly interested. (Uh, by this time, you must have already realized that I'm a bit prejudiced regarding illustrations. Must of the time, Early Sandman is the only exception because the story is so damn good, but it's severly lacking in the art department sometimes.)

I haven't done any flisting today. So, so sorry. I'll try and check some journals later.

EDIT: OMG [livejournal.com profile] shoebox_project GOT UPDATED AND I DIDN'T KNOW!!

So, I've already talked about how much I've liked both of the volumes of The Sandman that I've read, but that was before I stayed up until 2 AM to finish The Doll's House. Because this one reminded me of how much of an utter genius Neil Gaiman is. God, but it was creepy (I was actually kinda scared!), and real, and emotional and oooh. I loved it so much (the last part? With the illustrated dreams? OMG SO GOOD). Hopefully I'll be able to get another volume(s?) in the States, where it'll be cheaper.

Today's both my grandad and my godson's birthday, so we got together and had a bit of a party (wich is English for having a bbq). It was fun, three cousins that we'd never met before came from San Francisco, and we ended up having a really good time. I let my 14 year old male cousin drive my car for a while. I am never making that mistake again. (I'm still a bit in shock, after he almost collided with one of my uncle's car out of revenge against him.) Dad left early to check on my grandma, and I came come to find that he had baked brownies. Man, the house smells delicius. :)

ps. Watch at my new icon! Isn't it the hottest thing ever? I shamelessly stole got it from [livejournal.com profile] tokyoghoststory. *drools at icon*
