I only saw the first episode of the US remake of Life on Mars, and while it wasn't as awful as I expected, I just couldn't bother to actually watch the rest of the series.

I just found out about the ending, though, and all I can say is: WHAT. THE FUCK.

Seriously, WHAT. o_O

Well I finally got to see the US version of Life on Mars. And, er, hello, suckage.

No, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it'd be, but mostly I kept wanting to yell WRONG WRONG WRONG SO SO WRONG at the screen all the time, and dude-that-is-supposed-to-be Gene Hunt SUCKED LIKE A VERY, VERY SUCKY THING. Ray and Chris!Impersonators also sucked, and were so very unfunny, only Annie is somewhat charming and yet it doesn't come close to real!Annie's awesome. And Sam is... well. WEIRD. Very much - there's something about John Simm being SMALL and yet all COCKY that works a lot for the character, this Sam is too tall, too, er, imposing, dunno.

Also, the changes made to the last bit of the episode in comparison to the UK pilot made it look so, so very creepy. Like, a lot so. I also can't see the original version's ending fitting in US television, it's too... daring? Bizzarre? I don't know.

I'm making progress. I only sniffed a couple of times. And there were not too many tears. Um. Both of my parents really liked the ending, too.

Another thing to love about the Life on Mars finale: The wonky camera angles, yay. Yes, I'm one of those souless people that liked the finale. So sue me.

thinky thoughts about it? )

I am DYING. We reached 34ºC a while ago (93F, or so says the internet), and. DUDE, IT'S FEBRUARY. I can only imagine how HORRIBLE the weather will be in May. ;______;

I'm pretty sure I won't get to see the Oscars because the Life on Mars finale is on tv at 10. And I'm sorry, but LoM >>>>>>>>> the oscars. Ah, I guess I'll be crying again. (My mom is sort of traumatized with it being The Very Last Episode. She's such a die hard fan by now, lol. And my dad is pissed because he'll be on a plain on the way to Argentina at the time it's aired, poor soul.)

And now I shall go and do homework. Of which I have loads. BOO.

Aw, man, I just finished Ashes to Ashes so of course I'm thinking of LoM and now Life on Mars? just came out in iTunes and DAMNIT BUT I'M TEARING UP.

2x06 is on tv tomorrow, and then it's only TWO WEEKS until I have to cry my eyes out AGAIN and in front of my parents to make it even more pathetic.

OH, SAM.

Proper review tomorrow.

I still haven't seen Ashes to Ashes, but I intend to do so tonight. I'm partly excited because OMG THE GUV. AND RAY WITH A PERM. But on the other hand, I very much doubt it'll reach the sheer brilliance of Life on Mars. Mmm. We'll see.

Me and my mom finally had time to continue with our SPN S2 marathon, because zomg, but we're so behind. Last year we saw S1 in like, three weeks, or something... We saw Croatoan, Hunted, Playthings and Nightshifter, yay. Playthings was nowhere near as awful as I found it last year - there's still something that irks me about that ep, but it actually wasn't that bad. AND it has wet!Sam. Which is always a plus.

As much as I love Croatoan, though, I'm going a bit WTF about it. Like, slotted in the entire series? It's a giant, gaping plothole. When it first aired I just loved it and thought the virus would eventually come back and everything would make sense, and forgot about it. And it seems like the writers did as well. Okay, so Sam's immune, and even IF the entire virus was just a test (which sounds a bit contrived), just WHAT happened in there? *scratches head*

Nightshifter, though, continues to be made of SHINY AWESOME. AND THEN SOME. It's one of my favorite favoritest episodes of the entire series. :3 ♥

It appears that I'll have to use that horrible 'Cortina' code if I wanna crosspost this. Ew. Oh well. As I was telling [livejournal.com profile] kyasuriin, I should probably name it 'pantone #3984 Cortina' for the lols. XD

¡¡Feliz Cumpleaños, [livejournal.com profile] sarie_gamgee!!

Perdón que haya tardado tanto en darte tu regalito pero espero que te guste de todos modos. ♥

It somehow helps to know how the series ends before going in, but there are no spoilers whatsoever within the story.

Title: Hysteria
Word Count: 1800
Spoilers: Season 1, to be safe.
Author Notes: Basically, I wanted to take all the 'weird' elements in the series' atmosphere and oversaturate a story with them. This, of course, made it just a joy to write. Betaed by the lovely [livejournal.com profile] chrryblssmninja. Written for [livejournal.com profile] sarie_gamgee's birthday. ♥

The fifth victim is Sam’s first kiss, thirteen and green-eyed and still wearing that blue cardigan... )

You know you've reached the lowest level of low in both boredom and fannishness when you find yourself scribbling "Sam Tyler Lives" on your desk.

*headdesk*

And that sums up how far out if I've been as of lately.

(And about the last set of Dirty Pretty Things (this song just started and I suddenly remembered) photos in Stanthony's flat, well, Carl's CARDIGAN is, omg, so incredibly lol-tastic.)

I have so much homework to do and I don't want to dooooo it, but I have to. ;___; The total bitch of my metodology II and semiotics teacher didn't go to school today (THE BITCH) and didn't let us know so I was at school for FUCKING SIX HOURS before my next class started. Okay, so I got a lot of homework done but STILL.

In other news, I spent most of the day rambling on about LoM with whoever stood still for enough time because I STILL haven't digested it's OVER. Oh my heart, it aches. ;____;

NOW I CAN READ FIC, THOUGH. SO, FLIST, REC ME GOOD, AWESOME STUFF? I'M ALL UP FOR DOCTOR WHO CROSSOVERS TOO BECAUSE OMG BUT YES.

(Lol, one day I'll have to convince my parents to watch at least Sound of the Drums so they'll belive me what a nasty bastard John Simm plays - they're still all charmed with Sam Tyler, hehe.)
Music:: David Bowie - Space Oddity

That goes without saying, but I loved it. Loved this episode, loved the series, loved the characters, loved the way it's told, and filmed, and the way it sounds. EVERYTHING. My love, it is big. ♥

My spoilery thoughts on LoM's finale, let me show you them. )

Mostly, I'm just heartbroken to think the actual series is over. Sure, Ashes to Ashes is coming and the remake, which I know I'll hate, but it just won't be the same. If it wasn't enough, I've been torturing myself and been listening to Life on Mars? all morning long (with small breaks to listen to Space Oddity and woah, but I need to have more Bowie like, now) and been sniffling all hurt-like everytime. I-- I miss it already. *cries*
