I went book shopping yesterday! It was ace. It's always such a thrill to have new books to read :3 I got: 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami, Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood, Castillos de cartón and Alias de geografía humana by Almudena Grandes, El Aleph by Jorge Luis Borges and Under the Volcano by Malcolm Lowry. Has anyone read any of them? Were they good/bad/meh?

I really want to write, but every time I try I can't seem to do anything. So! Leave me a prompt and I'll write you a drabble! Preferable fandom/pairings are Erik/Charles and Arthur/Eames, but I wouldn't be opposed to writing for Doctor Who. Go, go, go!

I baked cupcakes today! Banana cupcakes with pecans and cinnamon and cream cheese frosting, actually. They're really really yummy and, FINALLY, kinda cute! I went a bit overboard with the food coloring, so the frosting is a bit ZOMG YELLOW, but they're still nice. :) YAYZ, especially after last week's fiasco, lol.

I also wrote a bit. Not exactly sure what it is, but I kinda like it. And I'd thought I'd evaded wing-fic. Hee.

You know, for all that this is bizarre as fuck, I really do like this story, it's cool in its own way, and I'd certainly never written anything like it before (being the realism bitch that I am, lol). I'll probably translat it in a bit, it's pretty short, after all.

Thanks to the goodness of both jeanne_dark and teffers, I'm all caught up on Runaways now.

While it certainly is quite fresh and new, it could do with a lot of work. The characters are a bit to stereotypical, but for the most part, they're quite well developed (the exception being someone I rant about in the cut), and interesting. Still, the story's enthralling (I stayed up until 3AM last night because I had to finish it), and for the most part, the writing's decent.

The art goes from BRILLIANT to meh to decent to good, something that my inner manga-freak is still having trouble to accept. I do have to say that I LOVE the ways mouths are drawn in this. It creates quite a range of expressions, and it looks loooovely. Chase's my favorite Runaway, dunno why, maybe because he's the only one that doesn't really fit in the group, the only 'normal' one, and yet he doesn't let it get him down. Gert is awesome. Too awesome. And so is her pet. Karolina may be emo sometimes, but her flashy flashy looks make up for it XD Molly is a sweetheart.

( SPOILERS! ) I was quite tempted to buy both of the volumes today at the comic store, but I'd already gotten The Sandman's 8th volume, Stardust's graphic novel (I only had the book before), Fables vol 1 and xxxHolic's 7th tankubon, sooo. My budget was running kinda low already *g*

Yeah Yeah Yeahs was AMAZING. Karen O's just insane, which made it all the greater. De Descartes a Kant, a local band, opened for them, and they were cool enough. I didn't have photography class for the second time this week. FOR GOD'S SAKE, MIRELES, STOP LEAVING ME WITH TOO MANY FREE HOURS. My Graphic Expression insists on calling me Alex, since he's friends with an uncle of mine that also teaches in my college, and it irks me to NO END. Only my family get to call me that (Like Sammy!). (And the first thing he always says to me is 'Aw, Alex, don't be sad, you're life's about to change!' Because, obviously, being naturally serious means that you're depressed. *eyeroll*)

Alas, I've not written anything today. The SPN is pushing in the back of my head, wanting to be out, and I haven't been able to do anything about it. *sigh* I'm already putting together the scraps post that I owe moonix, but I've had to type and translate, so it's taking a bit.

My nails are painted red. Not scarlet because I don't want to leave invisible stains whenever I touch my face, and not soft red because I don't want to have them confused with the paleness of my lips, but red as the color of those fireman trucks kids play with, when they're young and sweet-faced and their cheeks are just the color of blooming apples, when little girls put on their mother's overlarge shoes and sunglasses and smile at the camera with gaps between their teeth. Maybe I'm still playing to be grown up too.

Went to bed at three yesterday. Woke up at eleven. Yep, I'm in a fairly good mood. :) I'm writing SPN fic right now, a series of drabbles. It's fun, even if it's not that long so far. I also have a new callous in my thumb, from the special pencil for caligraphy ;-; Gah, it's too much homework.
