2008 has died, long live the new year!

Hiiii, I'm back, you guys. :3 I shopped like my life depended on it and spent like crazy and now I have no moneys left but it was pretty awesome over all. )

2008 was a good year, over all. Not magnificent, and actually it was sort of exhausting, but I can't really complain. Now, the stats:

The year in books, movies, fic and original fiction. )

And now I shall stop because I've been writing this for the past like, two hours and it's probably long enough, lol. So, really, HAPPY 2009! may it bring joy and adventure and love and crazy times to all of you lovely people. ♥ ♥ ♥

"Do I dazzle you?"

As always, it was Twilight that brought all of today's lulz. HEEE. Jacob was casted and man, is that lousy casting. BUT WHATEVER. That movie will seriously make me so happy. I WILL LAUGH AND LAUGH AND LAUGH AND I'LL PROBABLY DIE FROM LAUGHING SO MUCH BUT WHO CARES. YAAAY. Can't wait for this abominance. :)

And THEN I found out there was a [livejournal.com profile] tw_secret. OH, THE LULZ. I already love [livejournal.com profile] fandomsecrets for the sheer idiocity and not-fun-on-purpose stuff posted there, but this? This is even BETTER.

Other than that my day was okay but nothing big, meh. I still feel the itch to write, dunno why. I'll see what I can do tomorrow.

I am an episode behind on Torchwood and two on Ashes to Ashes. Um. Oops? I blame the lack of Martha.

Also! There was original fic yesterday, of the artsy fartsy persuassion. Which includes weird tattoos and pretentious people, lol.

You wanna know what we do in Graphic Expression V class, which is supposed to be acrylic all semester long? )

I'm pretty sure the [livejournal.com profile] supernaturalfic mods must hate me by now. Last time I posted there I messed up the subject line, and today and apparently hit the post button twice, lol. XD

My friend has finally finished Deathly Hallows and we fangirled in loud loud voices and talked about whose deaths made us cry the most and it was, no joke, sort of fantastic. AH, POTTER. YOU SHALL ALWAYS BE ONE OF THE GREATEST ERAS OF MY LIFE.

Also, I just posted the Large Fic of Doom I've been blabbing about for ages! A Thousand Shades of Red, in which Sam is growing up and sexing up Dean while at it. :3

Boooox sets. I WANTS THEM. ESPECIALLY IF THEY HAVE NINE IN THEM.

So my camera's battery died out and I couldn't take any pictures from my costume. ;___; It looked quite cute, though. And the party was all right, I guess, even if it wasn't all that amazing. *shrug*

I still haven't seen either Heroes or SPN this week. Um. *runs for cover* I could've watched them a while ago, but I was supposedly doing homework and yet for the life of me I can't do anything to the stupid chocolate sticker I'm supposed to design. *cries*

In similar news, though, I went to the mixup yesterday and there they were, both of Heroes and SPN's box sets looking all pretty and enticing. Right now, I want to get Heroes the most, so I'll probably just get SPN for christmas. That's not the most exciting, though! Doctor Who's series one was there! As far as I knew, DW wasn't sold on Mexico! It's only season one, though, AND it's expensive as fuck (1400 pesos, 140 dlls... *cries some more*), so I don't know if I'll get it. If it were season three, though... I'd be begging people to lend me money right now, lol.

I ended up only getting Bajofondo Tango Club's new album: Mar Dulce. Oh, it's so good! I was also really surprised at how beautiful their song with Gustavo Cerati was. *hums happily*

Oh yeah, and there was fic yesterday: Hysteria, Life on Mars. I'm absurdly fond of this one, lol.

These cuts were brought to you by Carl Barat's voice because omg but I can't get tired of it

About Narnia and Neil Gaiman's fanfiction in the 'verse and my cousins that won't pick up a book even if you payed them )

So, remix authors have been reveiled and wee, [livejournal.com profile] das_kabinett remixed Companionship Is You (Harry/Ron) and did an amazing work! That story always bothered me because it was pretty much plotless, but she managed to give it a wonderful backstory and THERE'S HARRY AND RON BEING COPS SUPER AURORS THAT WATCH CSI. The story ended up as pure win, and making complete sense. Go read it! Companionship Is You (The Stealing Is A Crime Remix)

I wrote a remix of [livejournal.com profile] ishafel's Vigil, which was hard, because the story was quite rounded up already. In the end, though, I think I ended up with a strong Sam voice, and I do love to write children, so that's good. :) Weirdly enough, I started respecting a lot the original author's style, but near the end it becomes a very me story, i.e. lots and lots of one-liners *g* I'll repost it in here tomorrow, but here's a link, for now: Vigil (The Waiting in the Dark Remix).

Heroes 1x19 - .07% )

Supernatural 2x19 - Folsom Prision Blues )

Doctor Who 3x04 + 3x05 - Daleks in Manhattan/Evolution of the Daleks )

Wow, you guys deserve a prize if you've made it all the way here o_O So, the runway for the costume design I entered was on Friday and OMG I'M SO SHOCKED WE DIDN'T WIN. [/sarcasm] The dress didn't end up looking that bad, not really, but... Anita's the only in the group that can sew, so she did whatever she wanted with the dress and it ended up SPARKLY. Yes, in all caps and bolded. Girl diggs her glitter, I guess. The rest of the team? Not so much. So bah. The runway itself was pretty fun and we laughed a lot and there were some seriously kick ass costumes - one of which was a girl dressed up as a fireman, with only the hose being the entire dress. Yeah, imagine the wolf-whistling XDD And the guy I like showed up, which was nice. :)) I'm just glad it's over, truth to be told.

Tomorrow, I'll bitch about Superman's lameness. Why yes, I know you're all excited about it. *g*

That meme about my five favorite fics? Or something?

Had the strangest conversation ever about sex with my cousins today. Strange because, well, their ages are: two 13 year old girls, 15, 17 and a 16 year old boy, and... well. They're LITTLE! o_O Pretty funny, though. XD

So, my five favorite fics, in no particular order:  )

And because I can, my five favorite original stories. )

spoilers for the director's cut of Supernatural, 2x16 )

Also, I missed Remus' birthday. I should be ashamed of myself. *slaps hand*

My brother and I plotted this cracked up video game yesterday. o_O He was thinking of a cheap Halo rip-off but then I got carried away and started thinking about an underground tunnel web beneath the San Juan de Dios market that people used to use to smuggle pirate CDs and the like and that they start using as an army refuge after the aliens come and attack the earth. It was mighty fun. XD

I guess I'm to late to flail about Heroes?

Heroes 1x13 - Fix It )

So, anyone has Claire/Peter recs they'd like to share with me? *puppy eyes* I really dig Heroes fic in general but all I can find is a big pile of crap in shippy comms. *sigh*

January writing round-up!

Dejen Que Las Dunas Lo Entierren, Original, PG.
Post apocalypse universe, in which the world has turned into a giant desert and the only culture remaining is the Arab one, living in Europe because the heat's unbearable down south. I really was going to translate this, but I was kinda sick of it after days of not thinking of anything else. What d' you think guys, want me to finish the translation?

Keep Walking (Nothing To See Here), Supernatural, gen, PG-13.
The world ends on Tuesday the thirteenth, as Dean is trying to choose between Lays and Doritos in a run-down convenience store. I kinda really like this one. Especially the zombies. Zombieeeees.

Nameless, original, boyslash, R.
He likes to get you to pant for him, to shut your eyes because looking at him is too much when he's talking like that, nose brushing your eyelids. he likes to kiss you by the open window, smirking at random people walking past it.

UGH, ONLY THREE, SO LAME. I don't know why I've been having so much trouble to write as of lately. I'm writing longer stuff, sure, but last January? I wrote TWENTY-ONE fics, 17 of them being a large, plotty series. *stabs muse* And right now I'm in that mood again, when I'm ACHING to write and yet I don't feel like writing what I should be writing. ARGH. It's so frustrating.

A little bit of everything, and oh, look! A drabble request

Dad, Memo and me all sneaked out today to go get my mom gifts, and then, we promptly ruined the surprise when we had to call her to ask for her ring size. *HEADDESK* At least my gift is still a surprise, though. And Memo doesn't know he's getting something from me either.

My iPod's break down yesterday kinda ruined my evening, since we went downtown to see a little spectacle of dancing fountains (which kinda look tiiiny after seeing the Bellagio's fountains, but there you go), and went to have dinner at a fancy restaurant, but all I could think was "OMG WHAT IF THE IPOD DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE, NOOOES, MY SAMMY!!" *sigh*

Other than that, I finished reading Travesuras de la Niña Mala (Mischiefs of the Bad Girl) by Mario Vargas Llosa the other day, and oooh, it was so good! It's so well written than I didn't really acknowledged the 1st person POV until I was like, 100 pages into it. A lovely, intriguing story - A man forever in love with la Niña Mala, this free spirit that always has a new name and identiy everytime he sees her. I really recomend this one. And how sad it's that this one, Julio Cortazar's End Game and the translation of The Perfume are the only books in Spanish I've read in months?

Mmm, I really, really wanted to write SPN fic this week, but my muse seems to be out of town (she seems to be traveling through Europe, in the middle of a deep, passionate affair with [livejournal.com profile] pink_faerie81's muse, wearing a tie and joining the gypsies), I and just had to finish Let Me Take A Taste Right Off Your Lips before that story gave me an aneurism, or something, ugh. But now that that's done... zip, nada from my muse. *sigh* I do seem to be in the mood for crack, though, so, the first comment in this post with an SPN prompt gets a drabble. *nods*

Now, I'm going to Monterrey and then the US next week, and it's a 10 hour drive to Monterrey and 3 more to the border, so, please, my dear flist, could you rec me some music? I'm kinda tired of all of mine. I usually like alternative and indie rock, but, I'm open to new things.

The 'give me the bunnies' contest!!

Happy Day of the Dead!! I'm going to have hot chocolate and Death Bread for dinner, omg YUMMY (this is my favorite kind of bread in the whole wide world), and if things go right, I might go to the spookiest local cemetery tonight. *bounces in excitement*

Today's also [livejournal.com profile] tokyoghoststory's birthday!! Go to her journal and spam her with weird photos!

Now, I have a preposition for you guys. I have this fantastic title, but no story attached to it: Let Me Take A Taste Right Off Your Lips. It was supposed to be the title for my latest SPN fic, but it didn't fit, but I really, really like it, and want to write something for it.

So I'm having a contest! You guys'll comment with what you think the fic should be about, be it crack, humour, angst, darkfic, your choice; and I'll pick the coolest, craziest one and write it as full-fledged fic (so that's, uh, 1300+ words). Please, make me happy and participate, pimp it, whatever. Fandoms would preferably be Supernatural and Doctor Who (and what the hell, Heroes), but if you're, you know, [livejournal.com profile] moonix or someone equally cool, I'll accept HP. GO, GO, GO!

I posted fic earlier today, And That Ashen Taste on My Mouth. *pimps herself shamelessly*

The Fanfic Writers Meme )

And well, since I'm already doing this, another meme: Ask me anything you want about my fic, how did it end, why did the character do that, why is there so little sex, your choice.

Went to see Lady in the Water today. I liked it a lot, even with all the bad reviews I've been hearing, but I'm a sucker for fairy tales so that's not a suprise. It could have been better, yes, but I really liked the characters, they were all unique in their own ways.

It's back to school tomorrow, what a drag! I have class at 7, so I have to wake up at 5:30, and oh, how does my heart weeps at this ;-;
nekare: (velvet goldmine)
2006-08-01 02:52 pm

In a music kind of mood.

The bad thing about waking up so late is that it somehow feels as if you've wasted an entire morning. Bah. I want to try and draw a bit this afternoon, I've had this idea going round and round in my mind for a few weeks. And joy, I've found a bit of watercolor paper! I still have to go and buy some more, though.

About Ultimate X-Men, how much does 'Return of the King' rocks? A LOT. But really, one'd think they could stick to a single artirst, for God's sake. And again, while I love the style of Chris Bachalo (from Ultimate War), it still doesn't fit with X-Men - he draws women beatufifully, but his men end up looking ar too chartoony for this kind of comic. But yeah, much love. (And apparently, both him and Kaare Andrews dislike Jean's short hair as much as I do XD)

I'll be posting my sentences in a bit, but before that, some music! The first two are songs that I fell in love with while hearing a promo for The L Word's second season, two are from the Nana movie, one from the anime, and the other two just because *g*

The Organ - Brother
Ladytron - Playgirl
Fall Out Boy - Dance Dance
Hi-fi - Hard to Beat
(Nana) Mika Nakashima - Glamourous Sky
Nana (anime) opening - Rose
(Nana) Mika Nakashima - My Medicine

I posted Nine/TARDIS/Ten OTP fic yesterday, btw.

Página: Page, Noun. (the G is pronounced like the English H) I like this word because the G sounds very smooth and soft, which contrasts with the strong P. And it helps the fact that it has to do with books XD

I've been too out of reach as of lately with my RL friends. I open MSN today, and I guess that my best guy friend saying "Look, an Ale!" is very showy. *shifty eyes*

God, it felt good to dance today, it was damn tiring after two weeks without it, but so rewarding. and joy! Bere agreed to lend me Smallville's first season. :)

I found out today that a short story contest I participated in last year (which I didn't mind losing any bit, not with my 2nd place from the other contest under my arm XD) is running again, and I'd like to give it another try, because, damn, the prize it's 7000 pesos! 0_o So, my Spanish-speaking flist, would you mind telling me if Oleaje could stand a shot with proper editing and gramatical checking? Pretty please>? I'll still try and really write more in Spanish, before this one, I hadn't writen anything since late June. Which is depressing.

I've just fallen in love with Kaare Andrew's art (the illustrator of issues 23 and 24 of Ultimate X-Men). Granted, it doesn't fit at all with X-Man, and it probably was a bad idea to let him work on that, but damn can he draw. I'm a cartoon loving freak, after all, so I know my thing - drool worthy and bright and with such movement. Just beautiful. I'll have to check and see whether the guy's done any other comics - I'd be highly interested. (Uh, by this time, you must have already realized that I'm a bit prejudiced regarding illustrations. Must of the time, Early Sandman is the only exception because the story is so damn good, but it's severly lacking in the art department sometimes.)

I haven't done any flisting today. So, so sorry. I'll try and check some journals later.

EDIT: OMG [livejournal.com profile] shoebox_project GOT UPDATED AND I DIDN'T KNOW!!

Ah, ocio, como me consumes.

I've been reading Sirius/James fic all afternoon long. *headdesk* In case you're interested, I've added quite a lot of them in my memories (I even created a 'folder' for them!). The angst pretty much rocks, oh yes.

I'm sooo behind on my [livejournal.com profile] dogdaysofsummer reading, though - I haven't read any today, guh. I also haven't finished the novel-length H/D fic I started reading yesterday, because two kicks away from finding each other, BAM, and they're suddenly so horny for each other. I hate that in long fics, especially considering it's post HBP. *eyeroll*

About the mayor reclist, I think it's amazing - I've been reading wonderful fics thanks to it all day long. It is kinda strange, though, that some fics that I consider THE fics aren't listed - for example, [livejournal.com profile] mysid's Going Back to Being Friends saga, which was both the first slash and the first R/S story I ever read, and the one that made me love it to pieces. *shrug* Fandom's fickle like that, I guess. And I'd love you forever if you guys could go and second me in here, I'd love to end up in the list.

Anyway, does anyone know of cheap things to see/do in New York? Because if things go well - and I'm crossing my fingers - I could be going there with my family the last week of July. *hopes*
nekare: (Fight Club)
2006-06-13 09:52 pm

This is me, having nothing to do XD

My illustration was chosen for the first round of eliminations! If things go well, it'd be featured in the school's exposition for Graphic Design, that while free, it does have curricular worth. Yayz. (It was just about to not enter, though...)

Today's my little 2-year-old cousin's birthday! Happy Birthday, Sara Ceci, even if I don't ever want you to read this XD We went to her house and she was just charming and it's so hot that she took all of her clothes off and ran around in her diaper, and then we had a tea party and I went and taught her how to bake bread in her little play-kitchen. It was lovely. :)) Was I ever that cute? Really?

I bought a new swimsuit, since I'm going to the beach on Saturday for the annual family meeting (the entire family, all of my granfather's siblings and each with all of their family). I tried a bikini just to see how it looked, and got a bit depressed. *sigh* I did manage to find a lovely two pieces suit with white and yellow stripes which is adorable and I'll probably take a picture later because you really must see it :0 The other pictures of the meme should be taken tomorrow, since I only got to re-charge the camera's battery today...

I feel like writing, and yet I don't, because I have the damned Bobby/John thing sitting unfinished there and it's not going anywhere and I'm just getting frustrated with it. Grrr. I really should start my [livejournal.com profile] slashnotsmut assignment this week or I'll never get it done with. Yet another grrr. I guess I'll just go and write Fight Club fic for [livejournal.com profile] pink_faerie81 and see if my muse decides to come back ;-; (btw, does anyone know a community for Fight Club fic? I'd really like to crosspost...)

Meanwhile, this are the drabbles that I've already done: (Fandom - Pairing - Promtp - Color - Word Count)

That Nasty Thing You Do - Fight Club – Narrator/Marla – The Narrator finding out Marla is an imagination as well – Puke-green – 297 Words for [livejournal.com profile] swedish_15
Skin on Skin - Spirited Away – Haku/Chihiro – Endless Depth - Transparent for [livejournal.com profile] miyukis_4
Ageless - Doctor Who/Good Omens crossover - Rose/Crowley – Water – White – 286 Words for [livejournal.com profile] such_heights
Looking For Something - Doctor Who/HP Crossover - Remus/Ten - Library - Gold - 1515 for [livejournal.com profile] amberlynne.

And now this is officially way to long. *headdesk*

*dances around*

First of all, check out what people have written for me as of lately! I feel all warm inside with so many gifts. :)

[livejournal.com profile] why_me_why_not wrote three drabbles for me, a Lucy/Mr. Tumnus Friendship, a Brian/Justin and a James/Lily one. They're all so wonderfully cute!

[livejournal.com profile] lilian_cho wrote a wicked H/D drabble, which is funny and sexy. (and if you scroll down, there's this awesome Draco/Ginny as well.)

[livejournal.com profile] shaggydogstail wrote Good Omens fic for me! Aziraphale/Crowley, witty and lovely and just great. :)))

My evening has been brought up a LONG way up. I got this lovely review for Hide and Seek (YES, I MADE YET ANOTHER PERSON CRY. I'M A BAD, BAD GIRL.), and she told me I had been recced in [livejournal.com profile] accio_rs_fic. Turns out people have already asked for some of my fics before, and in the comments everyone's like, ohhh yes, that fic by Nekare! Like they totally remember me, and OOOOOH, IT MADE ME SO HAPPY. *happy sigh*

I... should probably write some more R/S before I go back to anonymous-land...

I don't wanna sully this IMMENSELY HAPPY post, but I just gotta say I hate soda cans as of now. Especially when they're all bended around and one's supposed to get them to look the same on paper with Prismacolors. Like, truly, truly hate them. Ugh. (Bah, the Fanta can was all right. The pepsi one, though...) I totally pwned the computer stuff today, though, and now I have burnt six wonderful Doctor Who CDs. I'd love to buy the DVDs, but the box is almost 90 dlls, and with the shipping it'd be what? 150? I don't have that money. ;-;

You know how I said a way back that I have a page in my writing notebook for prompts? To use in class? Help me fill it and prompt me m'dear flist. :)))

I hate, hate, hate the summer time system (daylight saving thingy?? I've no idea how it's called in English), because I like me sleep, but there is one perk. I had class today from 7 to 9, and I woke up at pass 6:30. My mom woke me up, actually, since either I turned off my alarm without noticing or I don't know what, and I was like 'Oh, it's late. I won't make it anymore.' and mom said 'okay, it's better if you don't go running while on the higway.' and I went back to sleep. XDDDD until 9 or something. it was glorious I tell you, to miss two of my three most boring classes in the week. :) So I stayed home all morning lazying around, and watching Doctor Who and generally doing nothing productive.

I actually started writing my [livejournal.com profile] wellymuck fic at Mexican Art History (with Violent!Pups, as suggested by [livejournal.com profile] dzturtlepower!), but then my friends arrived, and I had to switch places between them since Nelly wanted to seat next to her crush, and I knew that if they caught me writing in English they wouldn't leave me alone about it, and the fic is going to be sexy damnit, and yes I'm a little ashamed, sue me. So I started to write this original story about a mathematicist that cares too much about numbers to even notice his wife. It's going okay so far.

Writing class today! I recieved some good critique for Paraíso Gris (Which I totally haven't finished translating. Sorry.) and again, Rodrigo's story blew everyone away. *sigh* it was just so damn gorgeous. My assignment for the Easter holidays (OMG YAYZ VACATION!!) is minifiction, or better said: Drabbles. I'll have fun with that one... *smirk* Which is actually funny, since I was planning to make [livejournal.com profile] inky_fingertips' second prompt a drabble fest. What do you guys think?

Ugh, I'm so tired I'm actually planning to skip any kind of reading and just watch some Doctor Who and go to bed. But I don't want to get so behing on Wellymuck!
